Everyone loves Novritsch right. Well we share one commonality. Austria. Make it two! I also love Airsoft Sniping. And my first Airsoft gun was from the Austrian guy we all already know. Novritsch. It's an SSG96, but honestly the performance didn't really impress me. And from the beginning I had my eyes on one outstanding gun. The SRS. So I got one and fully upgraded it. Im still trying to improve performance but I don't want to make this too long. Therefore I'll skip to my latest purchase. An old time classic. The VSR-10. Basically an upgraded JG Bar 10. As side arms I use my upgraded TM MK23 and Novritsch SSE18 (which doesn't perform to my standards as well so I'm probably gonna get rid of this thing soon).

Novritsch and people who talk about his stuff seem to miss the point that his guns are beginner guns and are meant for the highest value for your money, but although the gun may be very good for what it is, it hasn't had the time and care a $1000 VSR-10 has had put into it. With like 20 bucks in parts and materials you can make an SSG10 really good, but you would probably be looking at an hour or more of messing around with your gun. I look at things like his SSX23, SSX303, SSG10, and SSP5 as about as good as you can buy, but capable of more. They all have very top notch parts inside, but they do need a little refinement to make them like a $1000 VSR.

As for the SSE-18, I feel that .2J or whatever it makes is just not enough for being competitive, but I do like the lack of stuff you need besides a battery and charger, and the lack of stuff to go bad on it. I'd look into the SSP5 if you want something that seriously kicks ass with little effort put into the gun, but I'm not sure how the thing caries as I remember my SSP1 was really heavy and moved around a lot no matter what.

@SiliconeSword I totally get that Novritsch makes one of the best ootb guns and when i was talking about the ssg's performance i didn't say that it is terrible, but I personally want to make the best performing gun and unfortunately i couldn't upgrade the ssg96, because with he aa hop up chamber (blue) and an airsoftpro nozzle i had major air leaks and I couldn't fix it so I decided to send the parts back and leave it stock and make it a gun I can borrow to my friends, if they need one.

Yeah, the SSG96 is a little different as there are way less good parts for it, and you'd be limited to DIY stuff for the most part. I bet that it could be improved to compete with any other rifle, but it does sound like it would be more difficult to do so than another platform.

Ok so I tend to ask this because new people just start upgrading without knowing why often.

What was wrong with the stock ssg96 parts you were trying to fix?

If thier wasn't an issue or performance gain you were aiming for. what was you hoping was going to happen when you changed the parts? (Aka what was the objective)

Also just to check that when you changed to the action army chamber you used a good quality AEG barrel, hop rubber and nub and didn't try to use the nov type96 stuff still?

No point changing parts if you don't know what your trying to fix or improve.

I was trying to improve performance. In particular the inconsistency I have had with the stock bucking. Maybe it is just this specific bucking and if I get another one of them it would be fixed. But I do not know that. And if I am being totally honest, this was my first gun and I had no experience tinkering on guns so it was a learning experience. Now that I have upgraded an SRS and a VSR-10 I would consider myself ready to try upgrading the L96 as well tho im not sure if I should really do it because I have 2 guns shooting lasers already. But you. are right, that if the performance was better there was no point upgrading a gun.

As far as I know the biggest unique to to this platform weak point of the ssg96 is the hop rubber just not being the best, no new hop rubbers designs have been made for the type96 for years as far as I know. If you were upgrading an mb01 or clone it would involve using an action army or Airsoft Pro chamber and using AEG hop rubber and barrels which allows much more modern hop rubbers designs.

The SSG96 has a Maple Leaf for APS2 chambers and barrels, so you're kinda stuck with that as it's probably the best out there.

I'd say your best chance at supreme accuracy would be an R-hop, but those can be difficult to do right.

Yeah, but they're difficult to cut and shape properly.

I find that 70° silicone is the best.
I suggest you ask this guy if he can cut one.

I would say yes with a caveat: You need to have the skills to cut and shape one appropriately. If you can't do that you're better off buying one - the Stalker patches are as good as any if he does one to fit your barrel. Ask him perhaps ^^
