I'm interested in building my 1st DMR, and I want to make my life hard by picking VSS Vintorez. The King Arms and LCT models are solidly documented. However, I've yet to see any feedback on the relatively new Cyma CM099.

I like two things about it:
  • It's 150 euros, compared to 400-450 euros for KA & LCT. That's 300 euros more for aftermarket parts
  • The battery compartment is in the stock, allowing me to commit the suppressor section fully to stabilization and sound dampening (not sure if the latter is needed for a DMR)
However, the fact that it's aluminium body, and lack of any DMR upgrade feedback gives me pause.

Has anyone attempted the CM099 DMR upgrade? What are your thoughts?

Been done before.
Very much an upgradable platform. Gearbox is a v3 gearbox apart from the cylinder head, which is a v7 type. Everything else in the gearbox is v3 compatible including the nozzle.
Apparently the hopup unit cannot be upgraded, but the bucking and barrel can.
