I found this on AirsoftGI under new arrivals. I did a search on here and didn't see anything about it so I thought I would bring it up.

Javelin Gun Works M24 Clone

Here is a link http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=7140. How do you guys think it will do? It looks like the first M24 clone, but I could be completely and utterly wrong.

Also, I don't have an M24, but it seems that the mags are hard to find. Do you guys think the new clone will make compatible mags easier to find?

APS2 and M24 mags are not completely compatible.
they are similar but not identical.

I actually have an illustrated post on here about that subject.
here it is......

I have both the CA M24 and the M99 their mags are very similar. but not exactly..
and in comparison to the APS2 completely different.

ok here are the specs....

M24 mag
100mm long
21mm wide
42.80mm tall (BB feeding post)

M99 mag
100mm long
21.50mm wide
45.15mm tall (BB feeding post)

APS2 mag
109mm long
21.90mm wide
52.50mm tall (BB feeding post)

Now as you can see they look pretty similar but the specs show otherwise..
and the biggest problem I see in incompatibility is the width of the BB feeding post.. as seen below... the mag may fit the mag well but then not fit into the hop-up unit. As is the case with trying to use an M24 mag in the M99 with stock hop-up.

You need to be careful in finding the right ones...
but that's if you can find them at all..

Good Luck and should you find them please send me a PM so I can order spares...

hope that helps you and everyone else.

Somewhat off topic, but extremely relevant to this website. Mojo, if you could make a separate post with that info about the mags in the CA Rifles section, I'll sticky the thread. It seems like this keeps coming up and hopefully that'll curve some of the misinformation out there.

Wonko and myself have been talking about this over on ASF for a little bit now.

Until someone gets one wont really be sure.

The one thing that really calls attention is the tapered outer barrel. The CA M24 doesn't have a taper.

Judging from the pictures it looks a lot like a VSR or a clone of it. Just by looking at the bolt handle, and handle boss. And judging by the spot and look of the hop up adjustment.

Ok scratch that...... looking on Airsoft GI and they state that their tec has tried a lot of parts and found that it is APS 2 compatible.

If it is a VSR clone that will be great for a lot of people. And there are a lot of upgraded parts already available.

Dutton,

What about the Rifle and Parts review section? for that sticky.

Scratch that.... Posted it in CA Rifles.

Now back on topic............

Did anyone else notice the outside lever for the hop-up.. reminds me an awful lot of the VSR style Hop-up system.

I know it has been a few since anyone has posted on this thread, but a crazy good deal just came up on this rifle and I must share!

On airsplat, starting at 12:01am tomorrow, they are having a massive sale: 50% off a ton of pretty good guns, including the JG (javelin) M24! It's listed as only $120, so it'll be $60 without shipping! Is it the same rifle, and is it worth it?
