So I had a chance to handle my very first "souped up" sniper rifle and it was the JG Bar-10. The guy I carpooled with to OP: Bad Blood is basically the armorer for FilForce and was telling me all about it. He said it's exactly the same as a Tokyo Marui and since you're upgrading it, why pay for a more expensive skeleton.
I chrono'd it myself at 514 fps and the difficulty in pulling it back REALLY surprised me. He claimed to have hit an egg at 150' at the Enduro challenge. From the paces I put it though, I have no reason not to believe him. There is the occasional stray BB, but for the most part, I was confident I'd hit a man at 100 yards every time (save that one BB in 10 that goes who know where...)
What he said he did:
JG Bar-10 stock
An accurizing kit from someone that hand makes them in the Philipines.
The barrel in the kit was 6.00mm
Shoots Marushin Grandmaster .29's ONLY
Fire Fly bucking
I'll be building this kit because I really liked the rifle. It replicated the classic Remington 700 look very well and was light and functional. I won't throw the crazy spring in there. He said it shoots a little over 400 fps out of the box. He said if you sealed up the cylinder and piston and all that, as well as "put a bushing behind the spring or piston", it shoots over 450 fps. I didn't think the difficulty in cocking was worth the extra distance eeked out.
When he gets me the link to that Philipino guy, I'll pass it on.
It costs him about $200 to build his rifle and he sells them on eBay when he needs some extra cash for $500...
Sounds good to me.
Edit: This sounds like the kit and guy right here...

Additionally, here's a grouping review of his barrel. The only one that came in at less than an inch group size at 150ft.
