Does anyone know anything about the KIC gas cylinders for type 96? Specifically if they work with a Z-trig, and if they are HPA-able.

I did do extensive google searching, and found almost nothing, but if anyone finds anything, or knows anything, I shall be eternally grateful.

Not sure about the 96' one, but I know for sure that the King Arms one for the VSR10 isn't HPA-able. Presuming it is designed similar to the KA one, the gas goes right into the side of the bolt itself, making it impossible.
