Hi all, I'm pretty much new to airsoft sniper and I want to know why L96 APS could use inner barrel as long as 500mm while VSR mostly recommends up to only 430? VSR has bigger volume than L96 APS, which means logically VSR should be the one with the longer barrel. Does this has anything to do with any of the cylinder's measurements like the length or diameter or anything?

The current theory is that due to the aps2 platform having a longer cylinder the air is released over a slightly longer time, this means longer barrels can be used.

Current measurements are that for a .40g bb's
A VSR would you a 470mm 6.03mm barrel
APS2 would use 500mm 6.08mm barrel

These are all based on 1tonne's testing and sharing (So we should all be very grateful)

APS2 knowledge on optimum barrel lengths is still a bit unknown we have rough estimates but no one has tested and shared with the community yet.

What BB weight are you planning on using?

You can put a 500mm barrel into your vsr-10 if you wanted to. It just doesn’t match the sought after ideal cylinder to barrel ratio for bb weights.
Well practically we can put any inner barrel length on anywhere haha, but i mostly see that aftermarket barrel for VSR only goes up to 430mm while L96 mostly 500mm. Heck i even see 550mm somewhere.

I'm not going for high fps, only around 400 so i use 0,28 most of the time. But i find out that 0,32 works better so i might use that in the future
I happen to know that an ApS2/type96 doing 400 fps on a .2 using a .32g BB with a stock 500mm 6.08 will result in approx 320-330 fps (airseal was lasting around 4 seconds from memory so not perfect)

Yes I found this out by running an l96 below med limits, was fun to not worry about med for a game or two.
