Hi I'm new to this web site but have been doing airsoft for 2 years but want to know if the L96 sniper rifle is a good gun to use and also if anyone lives in SO CA?

Do a search next time. Eventually I'm going to get tired of answering these questions (and all the other regulars already have), and then you guys will be out of luck.

Plain and simple, L96 isn't enough information. Maruzens are good, clones are not. Upgrades make a big difference. Are you talking about the real steel or airsoft (lol)?

Well.. All I can really say here is check out the other threads that are already up in this area on the L96. Chances are that you'll have best luck there in looking at exact models and such. As always we try to push that Maruzen and Tanaka are the best bets as far as strength and a great platform to start throwing upgrades into (Well... Tanaka not so much, seeing as they are gas rifles).

If you want to see lists on upgrade sheets or what exactly does what. Check out the Maruzen section and read a few sections.

see my buget is$85 dollars at the most for a gun! because I girlfriend will kill me if I spend any more! but it looks pretty good for the money!

Well... Sniping in airsoft is an expensive thing to do, if you want high power and more than pristine accuracy, then you have to dish out cash. It's my understanding you have a L96 already, so if you've got $85.00 I'd reccomend picking up a DB Custom Tightbore. If I'm not mistaken I believe the length is 495mm, and if you need help installing it you can just let me know and I'll slap it on for you once you get it.

see I'm not good at taking apart airsoft guns and putting them back together or upgrading them!!
I'm going to buy a used L96 with scope for $80 it's only been used for a month in some kids backyard.

Oh... So it's my understanding you don't yet have a rifle? In that case, if $85 is all you got. Then I guess you're stuck to go with that. Because you won't find a miracle laser beam shooting weapon for under $550.

I would have to say that's just crazy to spend $550 or more on a airsoft gun! it's a fun game and I under stand why to spend the most $300 on a saw, but any more is just not worth it because you mite as well buy a real gun for that price! you guys are free to spend your money the way you want, but for me that's just to much! I still think the AGM L96 bolt action sniper rifle I ordered is great for the money and worth every penny!

Until you play against a sniper that has spent that kind of cash on his weapon, and then you realise your mistake, albeit slightly too late, ie just after he shot you and you cant even get him in range . Unless of coarse you happen to be the next vasili Zaitsev with sub standard weapons, in which case go right ahead and spend your money on what you believe is good kit

their are very few people in my area that have gotten close to spending that type of money on a gun, but if you get shot before you even see him then you shouldn't be spending a lot of money on a gun, you should start getting better at looking for snipers; a L96 can shot at about 150-200 feet. vindicareassassin I have gone right ahead and I don't believe it's a good gun "I know it's a good gun" . In airsoft no matter how much you upgrade it still will only at the most will shot at 100 yards if your lucky, so vindicareassassin cut the attitude I'm not saying anything bad about airsoft or the people that play it! I'm just saying I would not spend that type of money, remember money can't buy you skills.

Vindi politely suggested that your $80 clone can't shoot anywhere close to on par with the $700+ guns that are fully upgraded.

And he's right, it can't. You *say* your unupgraded, unmodified, CLONE L96 will shoot 150 to 200 feet. At 150 I'm sure you can get a torso shot
