There are more things than just scissors, like using a mouse in the wrong hand, and other things I too can't think off off hand.

The point is righties almost never have to adjust to anything left handed, while lefties are still at least a little more used to it.

tarmageddon; You can use a scope cover and rotate it 90 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise (whichever eye you need to see out of) so when you open it it blocks the immediate vision of your desired eye so it is very easy to see the reticle. The scope needs to be a little close, though.

Hmm... we might have to agree to disagree there Juggler, I know as many left-handed people who use the mouse in their left hand as ones who adapt to using it with the right.

As a left-hander with 32 years of experience I can't think of anything other than the scissors (I can't use left-handed scissors btw, I have to use right-handed scissors in my left hand) and the previously discussed weaponry that I have had to adapt to using in my right hand...

Rubiks I did try that, but it's not QUITE to my liking. The cover is slightly too small, and as you say this means you have to be a bit too close to the scope, and also the spring that pings it open is pretty much unwound once it's all the way open so it flaps back and hits me in the face! I could use it as a push, but imo marksmanship is a lot about removing anything that is uncomfortable in order to clear your mind and find "xen" so I might have to mod something up (or just go around with my left-eye closed until I am used to it) >:D

Hmmmm... I would love to try this considering I'm left-handed, but I think I have gotten used to taking my right hand off the grip, pulling the bolt, and grabbing the grip again to where it isn't a problem. I'll try to make a habit of shooting right-handed when it comes to sniping though as fuzzy said. This is something that will definitely take time for me especially. Awesome guide though to those that don't know how.

Stick with trying to fire right handed. With regular use it takes about 3 weeks to become totally natural

I did this exact mod, but my sling failed and the rear receiver snapped. Therefore, I got some of my trade contacts (from the motorcycle industry) to machine a left-handed version based off the original.

What do y'all think?

EDIT: Of course, this is the first prototype that is currently undergoing testing and awaiting further refinements.

Hi NotOlly,

do you have any more information on how you went about gettign the new receiver and handle machined? I would much prefer that over cutting up the only ones i have!
Hi,

I use a small time machining firm located around London, UK.

I just used my VSR at a weekend event and really loved it. I have been in touch with my contacts and am getting a refined batch of these made and anodized in a Satin Black.

I will also be getting a new bolt made up to work flawlessly with the newly machined receiver.

The Blue Section is where one's finger(s) should sit into pull the bolt back - however, as the bolt has been flipped around, the ergonomics are not there any more. Hence why I have decided to get new bolts made up as well.

If you don't mind the now failed ergonomics, you could just add two 1.5mm copper washers before the bolt, as seen marked by the Red Arrow. Finally, if you were to do it this way, it's safer if you can get an Allen Head Bolt that is roughly ~3mm longer. Of course, that'd be where the Purple Arrow is!

If you do want one, I think we can work something out if you wish to take it to PM.

do you have a prosthetic? or are you simply blind in the eye? I'm thinking about becoming an ocularist and I have always wanted to try sticking a red LED in a prosthetic eye to give that terminator look in a night game! Just a little pet project...

My apologies for the off-topic :hehe:

Sorry for the necro, but I got three of these made up a year or two ago. I've used two in my VSRs and they've been great.

It only needed very slight modification to the part to make it sit flush with the plastic stock, a small bit of dremmeling where one of the plastic spacer for the cylinder sits and for two washers to be added in front of the bolt to compensate for it being flipped around (you can see the last one in my post above).

If anybody would like this, PM me and you can have it for free.
