Hello guys, GaruDemo here seeking for some advice on "Backyard Shooting."

I live in a subdivision area with decent space for backyard, and I still need to Zero my rifle for long range shooting. Only problem is, I'm sure there are lots of neighbors who knows nothing about Airsoft Guns. I don't want to be shooting my rifle at targets in my backyard and having cops called on me for having a gun and shooting targets.

Are there any alternatives to locations as to where I can go and just shoot targets without getting in some sort of trouble? Or do you guys think it's safe to just stay in my property to shoot at targets.

Thanks in advance for any good advices!

1st of all you should never shoot somewhere where people who do not understand what is going on can see you and get you into trouble.

But, if you dont have transportation and cant just go out to a field outside of town and plink, you may try shooting from inside the house.

Open the back door, come as far inside as possible, and shoot at your target at the far end of the back yard.

This could give you more range, and provide cover from prying eyes. Just dont walk outside to check your target carrying your gun.

Same situation here, whats worse, there was a gun ban policy here due to municipal elections (airsoft included)

what I did, i was plinking from my bedroom window, shooting across towards a vacant lot around a block and a wide street away. (around 120-130 ft away) i have a hard time checking on groupings though, and placing thetarget board on its spot. :)

Thanks for the input guys. I appreciate it. I definitely thought shooting in public with chances of people not knowing what an Airsoft is is a bad idea. I have yet to go out to my backyard and start shooting, which was definitely a good choice on my part.
Fortunately enough I do have my own transportation, so it's just a matter of finding a remote place I can go to. I'm not exactly sure of any good area around my place, so it'll be a while until I can find a decent place.

Again, thanks for the input guys. It's always a good thing to ask something you're unsure of :)

** Everyone take not...AT WHAT NOT TO DO!!! **

What you guys are suggesting is very VERY ILLEGAL!! Do not under ANY circumstances shoot in public. Doesn't mater what the reason. If you need to sight in your rifle, do it inside, and DON'T SHOOT OUT OUR DOOR, AS YOU ARE STILL DISCHARGING A RIFLE. IT IS STILL ILLEGAL AND YOU COULD GO TO JAIL.

If you can sight in your rifle where you play. Get there a little bit before the game and sight in the rifle.

So please don't do anything illegal or suggest people to do the same.

I though it was legal on your own property as long as the BBs remained within your property barriers.

I wouldn't push it...

To alot of people that would also mean if I were to take my dear rifle out and shoot it in my back yard that, as long as it stays on my property then it is legal. Not so.....

That and you shouldn't be shooting anything in city limits anyway. It is a good way to get the sport in trouble and outlawed.

Try your local outdoor shooting range. You may have to pay a range fee but most range owners will just be interested and let you walk on, provided that you mind the range rules and and have proper personal protection. Buy some targets while you are there and be really appreciative. The nice thing about ranges, they usually have sandbags and shaded shooting benches. Don't be a dweeb and talk about your uber 1337 sniper rifle, its a toy replica. Keep it simple and just explain that you need a safe place to practice shooting out of sight of your snoopy neighbors. You may find some guys out there that might think its a cool training device or something to mess around with their kids.

Lol no offense but about time I get input from the pro's of the board. I've been waiting for someone like Woogie to reply to this >_>

Okay so the better conclusion is to find a local range and see if I can do it there.
I'll need to look more into this x.x

Anybody near Detroit Area that knows of some places that might let me do this? Transportation is not an issue, but I'd like to keep the place within 30min-45min near my area (Farmington Hills).

Thanks in advance!
