So, I have recently gotten all the stuff to upgrade my CYMA m14 for the DMR job. What i put inside:

- prometheus sp170 spring
- element ball bearing spring guide
- element B cylinder
- element ver. 7 cylinder head
- deepfire duracon titanium piston
- deepfire titanium piston head with ballbearing
- element max torque gear set
- element 6mm steel bushings

The problem is with the gears, I supposed they were interchangeable between gearboxes but it turns out the cyma gearbox (tm too therefore?) are smaller than the regular gears of other gearboxes. I had no idea about it buuut, i guess there should be a ver7 gearbox that accepts normal size gears. I am asking all this since upgrading the whole gearbox and failing at installing the high torque gears just feels ... meh.
The gun clocks at 480ish fps with 0.25g bbs tho.

Anyway, does anyone know if a ver7 gearbox uses normal gears.

I just happened to get a great deal on the element max torque gears and i bought them since i was in the process of getting all the internals.

I guess ill just buy a G&P ver7 gearbox shell, if nothing else to have it for a replacement if the stock one cracks :) The vendors at the store were laughing maniacally when i told them ill be fitting a 170 in there :)

Maybe you should try something else. M170s are around 550FPS. Are you sure you need that? I am guessing you have spent over $300 in internals and battery stuff? ER? nope, and not to sound like a snob but you are going to need a very strong motor and huge battery to pull that spring. Try a M130 or M140 first. I really feel sorry for your trigger contacts. E1 sells their OEM trigger contacts but they're piss poor. Is the "B" cylinder a "type 1" or have hole in it? Might as well go for a full cylinder, IMO. Those G&P V7 MBs are hard to find and are not cheap. You could probably buy another gun easier, or for that matter get the right gears. G&P's 7mm mechbox won't be any better. Yes, it'll be nicer but 7mm bearing will be useless to you even at 450FPS and a V7 is almost as much of a brick as a M249 MB. Spend your money on new gears and buy a weaker spring a motor and a powerful battery.

I'd suggest using a G&P M160 motor with an 11.1v 20c lipo and a mosfet with a ton of active breaking. Get a 3-cell lipo alarm so you don't fry your battery. These are not the best gears in the world but at $20 your can afford to try them out at 450FPS. I wouldn't even use Prometheus gears at 550FPS their triple torques are only 27:1 anyway. Your best bet on gears with that load would be a set from RiotSC over at the airsoftmechanics forums. By far the best gears I have ever seen. They happen to be well over $100 too.

Have you ever adjusted your angle of engagement before? Might want to figure that out if you haven't before you just start destroying pistons left and right. It doesn't matter what the pistons are made of, and to be honest I would rather replace those than gears. But without AOE correction your will most likely rip off the back of your piston.

Good luck and let us know how things turn out,

I have an element high torque motor brand new and a 11.1v lipo 2400mah 15C :) I forgot to mention it as it didnt concern the gearbox directly. The trigger contacts are element aswell, low heat and whatnot :) So far i paid like 160eur for the gun and then around 200eur more for the internals and externals (ras frontend system)

About the angle of engagement: i only assisted when the gearbox makeover was taking place as our clubs mechanic did all the delicate stuff and we are both big fans of vindis guide so i think he fixed that too :)

The cylinder has holes in it as I'm using a silenced SOCOM M14 version so for that barrel lenght the full cylinder isn't the best (again, quoting vindis guide).

And yes, I know getting another gun would be easyer but where I come from G&G or TM m14s aren't really abundant on the trade sites so I think my best bet is buying a shell from G&P. The problem with the current gearbox is that the gear ratios, the holes to hold the gears are too close together for the size of the element gears, which means i would have to buy some custom ver7 gears that are around 100$ a set, especially high torque ones.

I don't think you will need any/very little AB. AB is to stop the motor from spinning after 1 shot on semi/after you let go of the trigger on auto. You won't really have many problems with an M170 with that.
