so recently i got an ASG M40A3, and i was using it and everything was fine.
But then i was shooting it, and on one shot, i pulled back the bolt, pushed it foward, but then the bolt wouldnt close, and it wouldnt allow me to fire.

So, my dumb ass thought i would take it apart and fix it, so i took apart the trigger assembly. I was trynna open it very slowly and carefully, but a few springs popped out and i have no clue where they originally went. I thing i figured out where most of the springs go, but there is a tiny spring i cant figure out where it goes. Any advice? (the tiny spring is in 2nd photo to the left)

Thank you so much! Though be carful opening it! xD plz dont repeat my mistakes. I did find a video of someone else opening it (carefully), so if you're wondering how to, here it is:
Is this the sportline version? (I think that this also works for the asg/vfc one as well).
If so:
As far as I recall they basically copied the standard vsr10 trigger box (you can fit upgraded vsr10 sears in it).
This should be helpful: How to Install Upgrade Piston/Trigger Sears in VSR10/JG BAR10 (Trigger Box Disassembly) -ASTKilo23- - YouTube
Also, if you look in the use manual, it typically has a diagram in it of the gun.

Nvm, there's 2 awesome sources, I'll leave my gun alone lol.

Keep an eye out in the following month or so, I have a new phone arriving with a super legit camera, so I'll be making a "tutorial" on upgrading and modifying the ASG M40A3 sportline.
It's like 4 years old btw, and it's still in great shape after all that time and use

I did check in the manual, but there wasn't any diagram. Also, yes, i believe mine is the sportline version. I appreciate the video, and I watched the video, and it was almost exactly like my trigger assembly, but in the vsr10 trigger it only has 4 springs, but mine has 5. They seem to function the exact same, and I dont know where to put the extra spring because everything seems to function well without it. Any suggestions on what i should do with it?

Well, when you do the tutorial, please let me know! I would find it very helpful. also, have you ever had a problem where the bolt wouldnt close? before i took mine apart, i was able to move the bolt back and forth, but i wasnt able to close the bolt and shoot. Do you know how to fix this?

Try cocking the rifle, returning the bolt and then not moving the bolt handle down. Ie. keep it in the up position.
Then press the trigger.
If the gun fires then the spring goes beneath the thing I have circled in the picture.

Just to make sure im getting this right, you want me to put the trigger assembly back together, put it on the gun, and try to fire with the bolt not closed? Are those instructions correct? (also, btw im not able to close the bolt down, that was the original reason i took it apart)

Ohhhhh, there's a little slider thing stored in the bolt end cap, it will only let the handle push down when you either push the slider with your finger while it's disassembled, or when you push it in the cylinder.

I'll probably have that tutorial out in 4 weeks or so, so check back every now and then.

Yea, i saw the slider thing, and figured it had to be pushed down (which is why i took apart the trigger assembly, because i assumed that whatever was supposed to be pushing it down was in the trigger assembly). Do you, by chance, know the part that is supposed to push it down? Edit: nvr mind, i figured out what pushes it back

Yes. Basically the thing I circled prevents you from shooting the gun unless the bolt is in the down position.
The one on my vsr10 sheared off so now I have a straight pull gun.
It normally has a spring underneath it that pushes it up.

OH! okay, i had figured out what it was, but i didnt realize there was supposed to be a spring under it. On mine, there is no spring under it, so i think that might be whats wrong. May i ask how you put the spring in? is it just directly under it?

Edit: it is one on the right, correct? or is it the middle one?

Upgrade notes for this Gun:
VSR10 Barrels fit.
VSR10 Buckings fit.
VSR10 upgrade trigger sears fit (pps/action army) however, they must be shimmed. I.E. place shims between the trigger box and receiver on top of the screws.
APS2 Springs, Spring Guide and Piston fit.
Action Army Hopup Chamber fits, however, mags need to be modified.
Add DIY barrel spacers as well as the stock one.

Thank you for the video @BlackDogAirsoft, i plan on upgrading it sometime (don't know when though). Also @SiliconeSword good luck on your tutorial. Also- BIG UPDATE- I FIXED IT!!! So, I couldnt figure out where the tiny spring went, and everything seemed to work without it, so I put the trigger assembly back together without the tiny spring. I test/dry fired it, and it worked. After I put the trigger assembly back together, there was one thing left- the safety. Pretty much, when i took it apart originally, i had taken of the saftey lever+ the screws, and there was also a tiny silver ball that i had taken out. As i was putting the safety back on, i put the silver ball in the hole that it goes in, but realized the hole was too deep. At first I was confused, but then i realized the spring goes UNDER the silver ball, and the safety lever goes over the silver ball. This is where the unknown spring went! @SiliconeSword , keep this in mind when doing your tutorial. So anyways, I successfully put the gun back together. On top of that, remember my original problem with the lever not closing? Well, that seemed to fix itself as well lol. So pretty much, my gun has been completely fixed. Thank you guys for helping me! lol i learned a lot about the trigger assembly, so i guess it was a good learning experience.

Sorry I didn't see this until just now. I recently took apart my clone (identical to your gun) and had the same problem, but thankfully figured it out.

SR10 Buckings fit.
VSR10 upgrade trigger sears fit (pps/action army) however, they must be shimmed. I.E. place shims between the trigger box and receiver on top of the screws.

Couple of notes - stock barrel is bridged, so to fit a ML bucking you'll need to cut it down. Even when you do this, the bucking probably will stick out into the feeding chamber a bit. I cut mine down, but in retrospect it would have probably fed even without doing this. Stock bucking seems almost completely ineffective - I got the same distance (240ft) out of both .36g and .4g bbs with the stock gun, hop up maxed. Meanwhile, with a 70 MR Hop bucking I can now lift .46g well past 300ft.

This spring is longer than the stock one, and makes the gun noticeably louder because of it. It did allow .4g bbs to fly out flat to at least 250ft, instead of having to lob them.

This kit does not fit other than the sear itself, which does work in the stock unit.

Stock hop up unit is almost identical to VSR10, but has bucking slot on opposite side. This may require cutting down your bucking.

I made a playlist of useful videos regarding the gun that you can find here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbBcQaDdqeQX4dqnZ4hkxbJQasePuNzB-

I too am planning on doing a review/upgrade video soon here. Honestly, between the spring and the hop up I don't think anything else needs to be done to the gun. Someone else said it here first, but I'll copy them - the gun is sleeper. Less than $150 into it and it shoots like a laser out to 250ft easy.
