What are the differences(other than cosmetic) and which one would you recommend?

I had always been under the assumption that these rifles were clones. All the APS2 guns have interchangeable parts and are largely the same. The Maruzen looks like the only (or one of the only) M24 type gun that uses the APS2 system, though.

There're PSS2 (for Maruzen APS-2) and PSS96 (for Maruzen Type-96) parts. Some PSS2 parts are interchangeable with PSS96 but not all of them though.

UDP: concerning OP's question on which one to get I'd say either one since they're practically the same except for the looks. Both are great externally and there're plenty of upgrades for each. So get the one you like better or the one you can find cheaper.

Maruzen aps2 is basically replica of steyr ssg 69

Not even close to m24. CA m24 uses aps2 internals.
