I was browsing for another aeg, and I found the Mayo Gang MGC4, for 300 on AirsoftGI. I know people hate on Lancer for their qc, but would this be any different? Thanks for the help!

Steer clear. I wouldn't touch anything Lancer related......
Lancer is alright, but idk if they're the best option.

Don't go into this expecting an insanely awesome gun, I suggest you just buy something sorta decent that looks cool, and just run it until something breaks and then fix it. The Double Eagle I mentioned is good, CYMA makes decent stuff but it's not as good of a deal as it used to be, and that's really about the limit of my knowledge. I'd avoid stuff with proprietary gearboxes or weirdness like APS and Ares(maybe Krytac), and just stuff that doesn't have much good stuff in it's gearbox for the price, such as VFC. G&G guns can be really solid, but I've never shot more than half a mag through the same G&G gun from shooting people's stuff at games.
shooting test is at the end, idk the trigger response sounds pretty snappy.
The specs look pretty similar to the Mas Blackout, other than the 18:1 gears. Would the quality of the parts be an issue?
Old school g&g combat machines without etu's or MOSFETs are workhorses. Not the best value anymore though.

G&G tend to be solid overall - especially in recent months they've come on leaps and bounds.I never really consider "building from scratch" but rather looking at a solid base, which means G&G and Cyma are right up there for starting points.

Could be an issue. You never know what parts are going to be in a build unless specifically listed and to cram all that into an AEG for that sort of money almost always means that corners are cut somewhere. All a shooting and Chrono test can confirm is rough, out-of-the-box performance - he certainly doesn't show you what it can do at extended ranges.....and if he's that excited over an average AEG (that sounds ropey) I would also guess he's not an experienced player. There's never going to be a perspective on longevity or quality other than in the most ambiguous terms (feels solid is a classic....) and most, if not all, retailers gloss over concerns or problems - they WANT your money. One thing to re-emphasise is that practically no gun, except high-end custom jobs, is going to be "awesome" (for a given and arbitrary value of awesome) out of the box....and certainly not for that price. This is part of the market Novoritsch has keyed into: People want to field upgraded, high-performance guns immediately and there's a massive range out there.....but equally, there are some massive piles of shit.

You could either risk it for the biscuit, or save and invest in a better purchase. Heck, you could even buy a base and incrementally upgrade it but you would, perhaps, be unhappy with the performance until that point and in turn, that could impact your fun.

Gone are the days when we used stock TMs

Lancer usually sucks when it comes to snipers. I actually just used a friends yesterday and it was terrible the hop up was all over the place and never stayed in place and it was bulky as crap. I would go with the Amoeba Striker because it is decent out of the box and not too expensive either and very easy to upgrade for cheap
It's not an AEG however, and the Striker has a tiny cylinder.

Not being rude but you came here commented someone should get an amoeba striker (which if your playing with limits of over 1.5j is not advisable or wise), than started a thread asking what sniper you should get.

Maybe save the buying advice until you've been here a bit longer and have more experience with each platforms pros and cons.

Do not get a striker if you plan on using it spring they have terrible cylinder volume and struggle to use heavyweight BB's well compared to other platforms.

Exactly. I wouldn't buy ARES (be that a springer or AEG) as I think they're overpriced trash but purely from that perspective I'd avoid the Striker.
I have had a good experience with ARES so far obviously they have there down sides but I found the short bolt pull of the striker to be very nice.
The problem is that the smaller cylinder doesn't in any way assist with the sort of performance you would demand in order to consider it as a contender alongside SRS, Marui, ICS......you need a heavier spring which ruins any ergonomic benefits from a short bolt pull. On top of that, I've seen a lot of techs experiencing problems with their AEGs - more than average.

That said, I guess you don't have much experience overall so every replica you pick up is new and shiny :)
