Hi ASF members

so over the last few months I have been building up my JG Bar 10. I've had a massive amount of help from various people on the forum and I decided to put a little video together documenting my experience with the build I opted to go for with a couple of different options around the same price bracket.

I think this video could be useful to people who haven't fully decided what route they want to take on their build and they can use this as a reference and to learn from my mistakes.

Thanks to Reliku for letting me reference his Maple Leaf video as this saved me a lot of time explaining that portion of the video.

Any feedback is welcome,

Thanks a lot!

I personally like teflon grease over silicon grease actually, but that's just nitpicking really. Great video, good information in there

Maybe this helps busting the "sniping is expensive" myth a bit :hehe:

Thanks for your input Reliku, I'll put an annotation on the video to let people know about the Teflon grease as I had overlooked that myself. :)

That's actually quite an interesting idea for a video, hmmm...

Great video. Nowadays I feel like Maple Leaf killed both the "sniping is expensive" and "building a sniper is complicated" rules.
Sniping was never expensive, it's just hard figuring out what parts you really need and what's optional. I think I can build a 100 yard capable gun for $100 or less (excluding optics) using the knowledge I have nowadays :hehe:

I might do that actually... just for the challenge...

1) Get A&K M24
2) put some spacers behind the spring and R-hop that thing
3) profit.

Now seriously, sniping used to be either really expensive or really complicated. Nowadays is cheaper and easier than getting a decent AEG.

I was thinking about a cheap type 96 actually...

It never really was expensive though. Type 96's are fairly cheap to do and they always have been. The budget problems arise when you start buying $200 triggers and $150 barrels whereas in a type 96, at 500 fps, you can keep the stock trigger and use a cheap barrel just as well.

People just didn't seem to do builds without those expensive parts in the past, and that way you end up with $800 builds :hehe:

But well, a cheap AEG is still cheaper than a cheap upgraded springer. Expensive AEG's are more expensive but then again you can also get even more expensive BASR's so yeah...

Even you can "reinforced" the stock trigger housing to extend his life span xD. Just Pain in @ss to open/re-close it @&%(*#^%^&*@&*.

The trick with the M24 by A&K is that it can take 550+ FPS like a champ and use wide springs. Not bad at all for a $80 gun.
The hop up is VSR style, so you can use whatever arm, bucking and inner you prefer (in this hypothetical super low budget I would go with a DIY R-hop, but a ML arm + bucking would set the record to $100 flat), only you could not use the AA chamber as the M24 chamber has wider outer dimensions than the VSR standard. But that still beats a L96 chamber any day.
