I just picked up a new sniper and i do not know what if it is the same gun as the mk96 by utg? i have the utg shadow ops, but is the actual name the mk96?????

It can be the l96 or mk96. For upgrades search l96

They are 2 separate guns though? or is the name just swapped out, or different externals same internals?

There's the type 96 and the L96 AWS. They're two different systems and the parts are not compatible. The type 96 is maruzen based and the L96 AWS is TM based. The UTG is a maruzen clone, so you have a type 96.

Internally, it is the same as other UTG L96's.
