I just recently bought a used replica M3 3.5-10x50mm scope with mount rings, and excitedly placed in on my G36.

However, when I put it on, the scope isn't parallel with the rail (rear sight unit not in the middle of the scope). The mounts seems to be locked onto the rail correctly. But I did have a hard time in placing the scope on the rail.

Is this a mount ring issue? If not, does anyone else know's what's the problem?

Thanks!

Yup. It had a few mm of space between the rail and the lens.

I looked over the mount ring again and I think I know why. It uses a cheap thin piece of angled metal as the clamp by the screw, where as other mounts use a nice chunk of metal.

When I tried tightening the screw, the thin angled metal would ride upwards. I think that's what's making it misalign. I think the mounts would be good for other things like a flashlight or something which alignment isn't a big concern.
