My friend bought a stock UTG MK96, and it was shooting almost just as good as the G98 with some hopup adjustments and other work. Personally, always buy stock, and upgrade. As then you will know the rifle inside and out, and you will have all those memories with it (Dumb, but true). And, you'll be able to diagnose the issue with the gun much better and faster.
