Hello from Oregon,
I'm new to airsoft, although I used to paintball regularly about 10-15 years ago. Recently a few of my friends have been getting into the sport (Airsoft) and it peaked my interest.

I have been told to buy an AEG and see how I like it before getting into sniping, but I'm not interested in that play style. I'm patient enough and dont really care If i die a lot at first.

I bought an SSX23 w/suppressor and couple of spare mags/pouches. I figure I'll play a few games with just the pistol until I find the right primary. All I know is I want it to be silent and accurate.

I welcome any thoughts on a starting primary or just any general advice for a new player.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome!!!

Good choice on the first gun, I'd actually consider doing that if I were to start off again.

For different primary snipers, I'd suggest the SSG10, the Silverback SRS, one if those new snipers from ArchWick (not the MK13), and a built up Tokyo Marui, JG, CYMA, or Double Bell VSR-10 as they are the gold standard.

For player suggestions, use .48g BLS BBs in all of your guns, wear good eyepro such as the Pyramex goggles that look like the Novritsch ones, and pick your shots.
Other than that, bring a tool kit or something every time you play as it will be a lifesaver to some people there.

Thanks for the welcome and the advice. I do appreciate it.

I was actually looking at the silverback srs but from what I've seen it's quite a bit more expensive than vsr platforms and I'm not quite sure why (full metal vs polymers?). Admittedly I am not a fan of the bull pup design but i know it does have its advantages. I'll look into Archwick, I haven't heard of them before.

The toolkit is great advice. I have been so focused on gear that I actually overlooked that so thank you for that.

I plan on being more ghillie style than run and gun. I bought a 3d leafsuit base from Arcturis and plan on making my own camo from that, so I have been shopping for good eyepro/facepro that would suit that playstyle. (Cant use mesh eyepro at the fields near me)

I'm curious if anyone here has any insight into the seethrough vinyl lens covers for goggles. Have you used them? How effective are they? And where can I find them in the US? I've only been able to find one company making them and it is in Europe.

Again thanks for all the help and suggestions it's been a bit overwhelming to try to figure out what is crap and what isnt if I'm being totally honest.

What part of Oregon? I'm in Medford and we have the best sniping field in the country nearby.
