Hi my name is Casey, I'm from the uk and have wanted to get into airsoft for quite some time now. I recently purchased a Double Eagle M57A l96A1 sniper rifle and am not sure where to go from here. (please excuse any clearly nooby questions ahead). Unfortunately as i have had little to no previous sniper experience I have no context as to how good this gun is. Also i have seen different websites selling the same exact design of gun, for example the Warrior V3 MB-01 L96 Airsoft Sniper Rifle seems to look exactly the same. Is there any difference in these guns as somebody recommended to me the warrior l96 at some point.
My main question at this point is how upgrade this gun as every i go on the interwebs i see "upgrade upgrade upgrade" everywhere. i am mostly wondering how compatible parts will be with my gun and then what i should consider buying in order to improve performance.

As i have essentially no idea what i'm doing through upgrading, some basic help and recommendations would be very much appreciated

Thanks
(also i have bought a £24 pound cheapish 3-9x32mm scope from smk recently, that i am hoping to replace with a leapers 3-9x50 scope in the future)

I don't know what upgrades are compatible with it but I can't imagine there are as many as a Warrior L96's upgrades, unless it's a clone.
Try wrapping the inner barrel with electrical tape. It will increase the accuracy!

P.S. Make an intro post in the Intro section (forum rules) :p

thanks, this is really helpful.
Was wondering if anyone could tell me the first upgrade i should get in the way of increasing accuracy (preferably not fps as there is a general 500 fps limit at many of the Uk airsoft ranges). I dont want to ask for a whole list of upgrades as i understand there are already alot of threads about that.

barrel and hop up. Do the barrel spacer too, that's the cheapest way and it is very effective.
Also what is your fps? You will need heavy ammo if you shoot high!

Can you recommend any specific barrel or hop up? Also what does the barrel spacer do/is it important to upgrade?

The Prometheus 6.03 barrel is a great choice, or the Madbull V2 barrel. If the gun you buy is a clone of the UTG/Maruzen L96, then I'd recommend the PDI hop-up unit that they produce for it. Barrel spacers reduce vibration and movement of the barrel, and are the easiest way to make your gun more accurate, even with stock parts. There are many ways, such as paper-wrapping, or just using electrical tape.

I would just like to +1 to pretty much everything exomatt said. with those few upgrades you really can strike fear into the enemy players. Just ask any of my 15 victims today.

I prefer to use the 1" wide cloth tape they use to wrap athletes joints in over electrical tape, for whatever reason i find it to work just a bit better, especially in barrels with a tapered bore

Cheers for all the amazing advice. I'm probably gonna start off with one of the new barrels you suggested and a barrel spacer. Last question, what scopes do you guys use on your guns? I bought quite a cheap 3-9x32mm scope that im hoping to replace soon.

I use a 2-7x40 I believe, before that a 4x32 off of a .22 rifle. 3-9x32 should be just fine. biggest thing for me though was eye relief, which is why I changed scopes.
