Hello everyone,
I'm new to airsoft sniping and airsoft in general and even though a lot of people told me to buy an AEG first I decided to go the sniping route (since I have over 1000 hours spent in battlefield as a sniper and its a sort of passion).

I'm currently running a stock JG Bar 10 with an m160 spring and some diy upgrades. It just barely outranges the rental aegs on my regular site, but I'm pretty happy with it, because I play to my strenghts and get some good results.

I'm looking forward to upgrading my gun and getting a proper sidearm and a ghillie.

P.S. I hail from Bulgaria

Sounds pretty awesome!!!

I would suggest that you get .43 BBs
https://www.evike.com/products/41707/

Better hop up bucking, 60° and 70° are best
https://www.evike.com/products/60957/

Better inner barrel
https://www.evike.com/products/84805/
These other ones will do if the Crazy Jet is not in stock, but you will have to make them open window with a file.

And a new hop up chamber or a new hop arm if you want to keep using the chamber you have if you are short on money.
https://www.evike.com/products/91156/

If you get the red hop up chamber I would also suggest one of these as they will help with accuracy and range quite a bit.

Other than that, it should be mostly DIY mods for a while until parts wear out.
Feel free to ask us about anything, we probably have an answer because we had the same problem lol

Thank you for the information,
I've been doing a lot of reading on upgrades and I believe I have an OK idea. My plan is to go with budget parts like the ones in "The Holy Grail Bolt Action Sniper Guide" - https://www.reddit.com/r/5rejui/holy_grail_bolt_action_sniper_guide_building_a/
The only question I have is how will a new hop up arm affect my overall experience?
Right now I mostly sneak through bushes to get behind my enemy, make some tags and sneak back, or camp medium traffic areas.
Would said hop up arm increase my range at least 10-15 m?
A new arm will last longer. Since the stock one is made of plastic, after a while like most plastics, it will start to get softer and not be as stiff anymore to push the bucking, that's why u should get a metal arm or just a new chamber. I completely vouch for SiliconeSword's suggestions. We've talked a lot about it and I've taken his suggestions multiple times with great results. What he suggested is pretty much all I have in my gun.

It won't increase your range exactly, but it will make your gun more consistent and more accurate which should increase your effective range by about that much.
Those BBs will be the main thing helping with accuracy and range though.

A few things to help with consistency are like I mentioned, a better barrel, bucking, and hop chamber as they will help with air seal and guiding the BB in the right direction without affecting it in any other way.
Another thing to do that would help with air seal and FPS consistency is replacing your cylinder, cylinder head, and piston, but I would wait until the trigger or one of those things break before you decide to replace them as they should be fine until after you upgrade the barrel and hop section.
I'm not saying that the barrel and everything will make it worse, it will show you the issues with the cylinder group if there are any.

Thank you,
I plan on upgrading pretty much all the internals at some point. With that being said as this season is close to its end and university just over the corner I'll probably save all the money I can to at the very least upgrade the hop (action army) and barrel (zci) for next season.
The bbs I'm currently using are 0,4s but I will soon test out some 0,43s or 0,45s.
Other than that the only leak is between the nozzle and bucking, but despite that I think my shots are fairly consistent.

There's one solution to the leak everyone overlooks. Teflon tape. It seals it perfectly. Put one layer on the barrel before you put on the bucking and then one more layer on the bucking and the barrel to finish the seal. And while you're at it, put a layer around the screws that hold in the stock and the barrel. It preserves the screws/threads and gives some noise reduction supposedly. Also, were you in the military?

Don't buy ZCI, they take AEG buckings which won't fit in the AA or regular chamber and they won't fit VSR-10/GBB buckings either.
Lambda, Maple Leaf, Lonex, and Angel Custom are all pretty good, Action Army isn't that much of an upgrade over the stock barrel except you will just get higher FPS.
As for BBs, Infantry shop USA has the best BBs you can get, those same BBs and also available at Amped Airsoft if you shot there too.
I would suggest that you upgrade the bucking and chamber, and get that 3D printed hop arm as well, that should be pretty good for a while.
You could also try polishing your barrel, but it is probably fine as Jing Gong is pretty good for a while.
Thank you,

I have not been to the military.

I will try out with more teflon tape as you suggested and I will look further into the upgrade matter the following months until I can afford any sort of upgrades.
I'm from Europe however and shipping from the suggested stores (and generally the US) costs more than the parts themselves, so I'm pretty much stuck with what UK shops, airsoftpro and taiwangun can offer.
The brand of bbs I'm using is BLS, which as far as I know, are high quality and the highest quality you can get in my country.
Check out skirmshop. They have a website based in the Netherlands and UK.

Oh ok, you guys actually have better parts because you have Skirmshop lol

Yes I've heard of them, but what about airsoftpro? Other well-known airsofters in my country make monthly orders on behalf of other players and sometimes have 10% discounts.

Ahh yes, AirsoftPro is also supposed to be good.
I've never bought their stuff, but I'm building a list so shipping is worth it.
Their VSR-10 receiver is especially tempting.......
