Official Ghillie Thread?

What if we were to have a pinned Ghillie Thread for Pictures and a matching thread for Comments? I believe this would be a great way to both show off our hard work and give new suit makers some ideas while remaining organized.

I searched for a thread like this thoroughly, and found nothing in the Gallery. If a thread like this is already in existence, I am very sorry to have wasted everyone's time.

Yes, this is a marvelous idea.

I have not found one either - other than a few where people have already posted up their own.
It's a bit outdated and some pics are missing, but we had a post about this.

We have some ghillie making threads in the concealment section.
You could make a new thread where people can show off their ghillies, and say you made a new one because the other one was outdated. Make it in the concealment section, so you still have everything in one section.
The problem with a thread for pictures and a thread for comments is that its very unorganized and is a hassle to go back and forth. I have seen this first hand over at evike.com, and quite frankly the idea that comments need to be in another section is inconvenient. It ended up leading to no one posting any comments in the comment section, and while the picture thread was all pictures, there were no people taking the time to critique, compliment, make suggestions, etc. to other peoples ghillies.

pvt13 is right, the thread linked is the old ghillie thread. Very outdated, and if you would like we can make a new thread for ghillie suits, but I would prefer to keep the comments within the thread, rather than making two.
We could also just pin all of the ghillie making threads so that we don't have to continue to make more sections.
One problem with the ghillie suit threads is that it is hard not to necro post. It takes time to make ghillies and not many people make a lot of them.

Just starting a new thread every time one dies is also far from perfect. A single thread filled with finished ghillies and comments about them would make it easy for newbies to flip through and get ideas and learn from the mistakes of others.

One solution is to make two sticky threads. One dedicated to complete ghillies, and comments and critiques about them. And the second for in progress suits, questions about how to make them and other things pertaining to their construction.
It is perfectly fine to necro post in the designated ghillie thread. No warnings will be handed out for necro posts there. We could revive the old one or just start a new ghillie thread with comments included in the thread.
I don't see how necro posting could be an issue on a pinned thread.

From the horses mouth:
The clinical definition (If you will) of a "Necro Post" is posting in a dead thread. I.E: A thread that started where someone asked a question, it was answered, and months later receives another post where someone makes a completely useless comment unrelated to anything.

Questions that are never answered, but go longer than a standard week or two, can be answered by someone else so long as the post is still relevant to the information at hand. Something such as a "Post your ghillie suit" thread is not something that will ever become outdated, so long as the post is not useless. Critiques are good, but if the thread goes longer than 3 months and the only thing you have to say about it is "wow, looks great dude!" then just leave it as is.

Use common sense about this, but when in doubt, PM one of the moderators. That's what they're there for.

I like this idea the best. although since there are so many different techniques to making ghillies and the ghillie section moves so slowly, maybe there should be a way to lock it?

For example: I know that someone posted a very decent "how to" in the ghillie section not too long ago, can we pin that thread and have it so that only mods can add/move other useful techniques to the thread as they appear in the general ghillie forum? That way we could keep it down to pure knowledge and techniques, kind of like Vindis DMR thread minus all the pages of extras.

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
