I want to hear what you guys know about this topic.



I currently have a WE M4 that is the AWSS system, AKA closed bolt. I already have 9 mags for the rifle and would really dread converting all of the mags to the open bolt system.

But I am looking for the best consistency that I can from the system. And I am not looking at tapping the mags for an external air rig, at least not at this moment.

So for all of you gas guys....... Which has the better consistency when it comes to a gas system.... open or closed bolt?

Yeah I know the difference between an open bolt and a closed bolt rifle

But when it comes to a gas rifle, the open bolt is just the fact that the bolt "comes open" where a "closed bolt" is a bolt that more or less stays closed...... IE the brass tube. It is all just a look thing So yeah ... that I know


I have been doing a ton of reading a research, the only really major thing I can find is that the open bolt has a much MUCH better hop up. And this is always a much better thing when you are looking for accuracy.

I have read something similar, to that, but that the closed bolt system can be made to be just as accurate as the open bolt. And seeing as the closed bolt is an older system, and more is known about it.

But then again, where I play I am not really excited about letting things get into the bolt system. So that is really a no go for me at this point. That and the 9 mags that I have as well.
