Here we go again. One of these threads.
They can be interesting though. Sitting back and watch the arguing.

War is a brewing in the mists of my comment...

I use a lot of legit Military patches. Mostly ones that are from EU military to US patches. I normally use PMC patches and USMC,US SEAL, and many others.

If you don't mind me askin' why are you against where military patches?

A lot of people have given up so much, and worked so hard to earn those patches. If you put aside your comforting life, to go through some of the hardest, most intense training in the world, to earn the right to call yourself, for example, a SEAL, you wouldn't exactly feel good to see a bunch of airsofters rocking the same tab. However, if you did in fact earn the right to wear the patch, tab, etc., then by all means, do as you please.

I personally don't see the need for military patches to be worn. We already are playing dress up and acting the part, so there is no need to wear a tab that we didn't earn. Airsoft gets a lot of heat from people who think our sport is dangerous. Why add fuel to the fire and piss off military personnel who might find it offensive, many of whom, probably enjoy airsoft.

Can I add my 2 cents please, please, please. I really want to say something even though I do not really have an opinion on this.

By wearing the patch it may not be belittling the real person who earned it but actually it may be raising them on a pedestal.

I don't wear patches apart from airsoft patches but I do not mind if people wear them as long as they do not claim, or act as though they earned it.

I agree with 1tonne, as long as they don't claim to have earned it when they didn't. I don't mind someone wearing it. However, I would advise anyone wearing actual patches to be considerate, if it angers or upsets someone, take it off. And to those who are upset by it, don't be a jerk about it.

I actually used to wear a Ranger Tab as part of my Ranger loadout, it is a goal of mine to be a Ranger (not just the Tab, but the Scroll too), so the Tab helps remind me of it. I started leaving it at home when I discovered that it upset some people.

I keep a patch of the Guam National Guard (it's represented by the Seal of Guam) on my vest. I never served in the NG on Guam, the patch was given to me by a friend. I lived on Guam for 1/3 of my life, the patch reminds me of the time I spent there, and the friends I had.

I do wear genuine name and branch tapes, as well as a genuine IR US Flag. In fact a good portion of my gear is genuine.

I only wear it outa respect to my great uncle. He was a USMC and a SEAL before he retired. I don't tell people I have earned the patch (too young to even serve, @ least for another 8 months). If they seem irritated at me for wearing it I normally just take it off, or just explain to them why I wear it.

Speaking as someone with over 10 years military experience. Just don't.

No rank, no unit insignia, nothing. We are playing a game with toys and the imitation does not flatter. When I play there is nothing about me that would identify why involvement in the military and all of my coworkers who also play are the same way.

On real operations nobody wears anything besides rank anyways.
