PCS bolt missing part?

1532 Views 6 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  cerboknight
Hi guys, I've literally just received a brand new Tanaka m700 L.T.R. which was advertised as having the PCS bolt.

Anyway, upon taking the bolt out of the receiver, it appears that the actual grub thing is missing? I'll include a picture, because I could swear in the photos of PCS bolts I've seen before, there was definitely something there...

Hopefully you guys can prove I'm an idiot, and it's elsewhere, as I want to skirmish this gun on Sunday! :'(

You are definitely missing the main part of it.

You could probably find one at a DIY shop, as it's just a flat head screw but you're definitely missing it.

Did you buy this from another player or a shop? I'd see if you can get a replacement part or your money back
Cerbo's right you miss the adjustment screw, but it's not difficult to do it yourself.

Damn, I was hoping that it was somewhere else in the box and I hadn't seen it...

It was bought new from a shop, and according to my research for deciding upon it, was the last PCS bolt equipped Tanaka in the UK (Brand new obviously).

What size screw would I be after, if I were to try and go about it that way?

In that case, I would go to the shop and complain about it in the nicest way possible, UK shops will have to buy a replacement part for you if they advertised the rifle as new.

In the meantime, disassemble the bolt into its two halves and take the nozzle end (the bit that's missing a screw) to a DIY shop and test fit different size screws. This will probably be ok for a makeshift fix. Though make sure to wrap it in teflon tape, for a better airseal.

Thanks very much, I'll phone the shop up tomorrow, although I'm unsure if they'll have a spare part, seeing as the PCS bolt isn't produced any more.

I'll take a visit to my local DIY shop tomorrow then...

Thanks for the help

Dan
No problem, but IIRC they're obliged by law to get you the part.

Sometimes I think DIY shops were invented just to save my rifles :)
