Is there much of a difference in durability between a steel welded cylinder and a steel pinned cylinder? Like the ones linked below

The best are threaded, pinned, and welded, while standard pin holes will stretch and get all screwy. Fixed a Laylax cylinder where the end was coming out, which is not super cool when you consider how much they are.
Even if the cheap one breaks early, keep in mind that you can buy it 2.5 times before you eclipse the price of the AA, so I'd say it's a solid move. Cylinders kinda used to be an expensive part of upgrading our guns, but with cheaper pre built guns we're getting some pretty alright cylinders that are identical for most intents and purposes to upgrade cylinders.

Funny the price diff, though, on the pinned cylinder. It's MORE expensive. Are you sure the welded one is actually welded and not just crimped?
The pin for the charging handle is made of one element and most importantly it has been permanently welded to the cylinder.
I sort of interpret this as meaning the pin for the charging handle is welded to the cylinder's base-piece, but the outer tube of the cylinder may not necessarily be welded to it. I looked closely and could not see any weld marks. I remember seeing a shot on another site of someone showing about 3 or 4 failed cylinders, all crimped, and I'd thought from that that the pinned ones were superior. Never heard of a welded one, but then I don't do many mods so of course they could be out there. I did, however, last year purchase an "upgrade" cylinder and spring kit, and when I opened it, I was pleased to see that the cylinder was pinned. When I took out mine, I was surprised to see that it was the exact same thing. Surprising...
But I installed an M170 spring, (stock is around M135), a better steel trigger set, and so far no problems.

The only company I know for a fact welded their cylinders was PDI. They threaded, pinned and welded the ends on. I have not seen or heard of anyone else welding them on. Usually its just threaded and pinned.

Hierarchy of cylinders:
Crimped (worst) < pinned < threaded and Crimped < threaded and pinned < threaded, pinned, welded (best).

Well I think you're forgetting one last thing, integral.
I've heard that EdGi and AirsoftPro are made out of a solid bar(which I find hard to believe) but I'd wager that would be the very best. If anybody actually knows the validity to that I'd like to know, as it seems a bit far fetched for a $50 cylinder or whatever ASP goes for nowadays.

I didn't include those as I have not laied my eyes on one. Hypothetically speaking yes, a solid one piece would be best, however I have yet to see it.
