Hi guys, so am cross shopping these to airsoft pistols, novaritch ssp18 and the tokyo marui hicapa 5.1. This is what am looking for in that order.
1. Reliability
2. Part availability if it does break
3.performance (accuracy,shots per mag)
4. Cost

fairly newbi here but i do really like the ssp18 cuz its a one stop shop but not sure how the reliability and durability is maybe someone can chine in, i like the Tm also cuz i prefer the hicapa controls but seems like it can get expensive and parts are not as easy to find as the ssp18, let me know guys thanx!

I'd get the SSP18, light BBU, and plastic slide.

Run the piss out of it stock, then add the plastic slide and light BBU so you can get the most out of your money.

The HiCapa is decent, but I feel that at this point in the airsoft industry things have sort of caught up with each other. The SSP5 is supposed to be "THE BEST PISTOL EVER", which is also what Nov says about every gun he puts out, but that seems like a pretty solid option. I'd price out the gun, but also anything you'll want to buy for it later including mags, as pretty much everything Novritsch sells does the same stuff in slightly different ways.

Bbu is blowback unit, the one which holds yoir nozzle. Light bbu usually cheesed out the materials making it lighter so it would cycle faster.

But I would choose TM hicapa and changes what's necessary like the slide and sear set. They would cost more but it'll be worth it.

Yes, at least in my country. If you can get easy access to glock spares then it could be as reliable too.

you familiar with the novaritsch though? They sell the spare parts on their website..

I'm yet to own any of Novvy guns, but from what I've see and read so far, Nov basically take a good base and improve it. But the improvement sometimes makes it proprietary to his only.

interesting you say that cuz am the same way, there need to be parts available and available easily cuz no-one wants a tool they can fix. it seems like nov carries all the parts and they ar in stock might have to check more often to see if they out of stock frequently or not.

Also full auto on a pistol I see as a negative, even ignoring potential cool down issues, it tempts some players to use the whole (small/limited) mag in a panic when only a few shots are needed and isn't as gas efficient so more to carry.

I agree on most things, i wouldn't use auto, i guess mainly am wondering how reliable that ssp18 is, to me a gun thay u know something is going to break (slide) doesnt qualify it as reliable
Already that besides how the gun feels, but if the ssp18 cant touch that reliability then it just means i just should buy the extra slide and upgrade it off the bat right..

Also rather than TM Hicapa, I think it's better you go for TM Gold Match. It's essentially Hicapa but better. But still, you'll need to replace the slide with metal one. But its performance ootb is very impressive already so as a secondary you could settle with standard config (other than upgraded slide to metal) for quite a while.

If you aren't fussed about metal slides and you want a plug&play gun, get the TM.

Does what a pistol is supposed to do, lasts a lifetime if treated correctly (144a in summer, green gas in winter), much more cost effective than buying a clone and replacing parts because it may or may not run properly

My vote is for the SSP18. I've quite liked mine. The full-auto is nice for things like this, cutting through brush, and running the pistol as a primary. I don't think you can truly appreciate what you are missing until you get a full-auto GBB pistol. My brother has an SSP23 and an AAP and pretty much immediately dropped using his SSP23 in favor of the auto-pistol.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so a video is even better. Yes, I use full auto a lot - but I've noticed I usually have to triple tap targets to get them to call their hit in time so that I don't get hit, so having the gun on full auto and using burst/full became a habit very early on.

No research projects on if the parts are compatible, no shopping around - just click and buy. That alone is one of the main reasons I really like Nov's business model.

SSP18 already comes with an aluminium light weight BBU nowadays, with the polymer slide it's very competitive regarding gas efficiency, rof etc.
TM hicapa 5,1 is better bang for the buck compared to the gold match. gold match is quite a bit more expensive and slide will crack even with care, unless you upgrade the BBU.
If you plan to upgrade, TM Hicapa 5,1 is as upgradable as it gets for an airsoft gun, but it gets pricy real fast too. SSP5 is a bit too niche for a newbie that dunno much about GBB. If you don't plan to upgrade, SSP18 ootb will beat the TM 5,1 in longevity and accuracy, as it comes with an I-key and ML bucking.
