Are Tanaka m24 good? I found one for 180 but the price is going to jump up maybe get to 280 would this be a good buy?

Its is either this or G&P m16 for 280. The m24 seems like a really good gun also the G&P is too.

Is it upgradable and is it accurate and silent out of box.

Very good once you put about $300-500 in upgrades.

They need a Palmer's air rig, VSR hop conversion, striker spring, G&G power pack parts, nice bucking/barrrel, and good quality ammo.

Head to the Tanaka section. There's tons of upgrade paths and general info on these rifles.

Get the Tanaka for sure. It's accurate as hell, pretty quiet, and definitely skirmishable out of the box. It may be a Postban though, so it may take some work to make it shoot hard.

Has any of the guys who say Tanaka M700 series accurate use another decent sniper rifle platform?
I don't think so.....
Tanaka's are inconsistent (stock - one shot 640fps the second 580fps) so bye bye accuracy! Unless you run it on external rig!
I'm sorry I've owned 2 of them so far so I may have an opinion

Plus they do break down fairly easy and spare parts are almost imposible to find (ask Peyote about it)!

So Wolf its a no go? Also its the Tanaka m24 SWS if that helps a slight bit comes in a brown box with a picture of the m24 and some writing on it. Supposedly its 400 fps? And sells for 625 on ehobbyasia and the one getting sold has barely been used.

I've had no accuracy issues with my stock Tanaka. Yes the FPS drops. However I get the same flightpath and accuracy from each shot even though the power is down a bit.

I can outshoot a fully built BAR 10 all day long. I've done it. Quicker follow ups, just as accurate. Really we can get into a fight about this all day long, but I'd get the Tanaka for sure. I hate spring BASRs because of the weight of pull on the bolt.

You thing accuracy is just the flight path? Make an actuall grouping test on various distances.... And see.
The fps variation means inconsistency, starts from the way/strenght bb hits the hop and continues on the slightly differnt flightpath all the way to different point of impact(grouping)!

Everything get's affected.... I've spent hunderds of Euro and countless hours on both guns (AICS and Police, now I have just the police) and I've never outperformed a well upgraded and FINE TUNED (I emphasize the tuning) VSR.

I'm just telling my point of view and opinion.

I'm using mostly sniper rifles and I've used most of them, I own 13 rifles and the 9 are sniper rifles.

Sooo? What the accueracy stock for a 400 fps tanaka m24? If I give it 100 dollars of upgrades first what should I get? Should I get the m24 or the VN the vn has some nostalgia for me and being G&P it is tm compatible.

That's why I mentioned the price of upgrades to get it shooting consistently/accurately.

What parts "broke down" on yours Wolf? I've owned a KJW M700 (which is worse quality than a Tanaka) and nothing ever broke down. Also, the parts that were prone to breaking down, spares made of steel were available.

Go with the Tanaka nelson, at the least, adding an air rig will really make the rifle great. That's the first negative statement I've ever heard about a Tanaka honestly.

I've done almost all the upgrades and I can't say it has a good accuracy!
Well that depends with what you're comparing it.... With a stock AEG(with the wisely upgraded there's not much difference at long ranges), then it's better, with a stock Asahi WA2000 (within the range of the stock WA2K).... Well then it's WAY worst!!!

Firstly the "standard" part that breaks... Part91(hop up chamber) this is the easiest to find.

Secondly the sear, well this one is a b*tch to install and after that the problem with the sear adjustment start, if not ajusted properly it will shoot at a max range of 15m this happened to a friends M700.
There are quite a few M700 out there that can't shoot properly even with adjusted sear and trigger!

I've seen a few posts on broken cocking piece, also easy part to find this also happend to a friend.
Peyote broke his sear spring.... Still looking for spare part as far as I know. Everyone tells him to buy a KJW M700 and take it from there!!

Well it's late and only these came to mind right now but I'm sure there's more....

Wolf, please make a video of your Asahi, like a range and accuracy video, please?

On topic, Nelson, if you want a good gun out of the box buy the m16, I can vouch for G&P being awesome gun makers, with externals (And sometimes internals e.g. motors) Being better than TM.

But if you want the sniper rifle be prepared to spend that extra few bucks and HPA it.

I think Wolf sold one maybe he has one left don`t know. Okay I`ll go for the G&P. Just drop some money for a new hopup system and barrel. Just a question if I paid someone on this forum would you setup a r hopup for me or should I go to HS5 for him to do it. Something I want to try but I`m worried I`ll mess up a barrel and if I do it what barrel should I use to do it with?

I had 2 Asahi's....

Grass the range to the stock condition is 60-65m (never measured it accurately) and the accuracy at max range is very good but again never measured the groupings.

USPS lost the package with the SCS barrel (!) so I'm waiting a new one from SniperX!
