I've got an AEG for firefights within my minimum engagement distance. I'm looking for a quiet pistol in case I need to obtain a silent elimination. I don't know if a GBB, gas non-blow back, AEP or springer would be the most appropriate selection. What are your thoughts and suggestions?

If looks stupid but it works, then it isn't stupid. I'm interested in what works. To that extent, I am milsim. So if your quietest gun is a Desert Eagle springer, then that's what I would like to know.

I've searched the forum (going back 90 days) and haven't been able to find a question like mine. If I've overlooked an appropriate thread would you please let me know?

Thank you for your time and consideration,

Josephus

An AEP fitted with a silencer is going to be fairly quiet, I'm sure all you need to by is a longer barrel with a thread on it and buy a silencer with the corresponding thread to achieve such a beast, or any non-blow-back fitted with silencer is going to be the absolute quietest due to the complete lack of moving parts to make noise. Generally, a Gas NBB pistol is going to be nearly silent, since there is nothing but escaping gas to make a noise. A TM Mk.23 or Y&P Mk.23 is likely your best bet, the TM being a better gun, but the Y&P being cheap....hard to complain about that.... I do not own one (yet) but I would guess the volume is likely similar to that of my M700AICS, which is near silent.

I only own one springer, a TM P228, and it does make a noise while firing, a sorta hard plastic hitting plastic noise....it might not be something you'd notice if there is AEG fire around, but it's nowhere near silent. Not sure how far away you can hear it from, never tried.

AEP - I only own a cyma G18C, and it too is not very quiet....has a kind of whiny motor noise which would be drowned out by AEG fire, but will still stand out if there's little other noise.

Gas blowbacks are noisy as hell for the most part....all of mine are anyway. My TM DE.50 hardkick is probably the loudest stock pistol I have ever heard....great for intimidation, not so much for being quiet. I always draw attention when I fire that gun.... My other GBBs can be loud too, depends on the surroundings, but they are not going to be stealthy.

IMO, NBB > springer > plastic slide GBB/TM AEP > metal slide GBB/knockoff AEP. I think evike had the Y&P Mk.23s for a decent price, possibly shorty's as well. ASGI has then for like $45 IIRC...but I've seen better prices....

Malice4you has nailed this one on the head, GNBB's are your best bet. When I used to roll in the Farmington CQC, I only used a knife and a P226 with Silencer, and I had moments where I could shoot one guy, and with his partner being two feet next to him, had no idea until hit was called, at which point I could engage with a knife. TM Mk.23's are very silent as well.
