R-Hop - removing the nub inside the hop rubber?

For the R-Hop to work, I hear you have to remove the 'nub' or whatever it's called (the bit of the inside of the hop rubber that is pushed into the barrel by the nub) from the inside of the hop rubber.

Just wondering what the best way to do that is.
I presumed turn it inside out and carefully cut it with a pen knife of some sort.

So I tried it on a MadBull blue rubber, which is quite soft.
It took me about 10 minutes to get it inside out, and when it was inside out, it had ripped in a few places, including around the nub.
It then took twice as long to put turn it outside in.

It was a relatively new rubber so wasn't fragile or on its way out.
But it ended up completely destroyed.

I intend on using the hardest rubber I can find, but imagine this would be even harder to turn inside out and back again?

Thanks,
Liam.

Also, what is the hardest AEG hop rubber available?

a way to turn it inside out is to slide the "lipped" side (the part where the nozzle goes in) over a bic pen. The tapered end of the bic pen will "grab" the "lipped" hopup rubber, and you can kinda roll it over itself.

i've done this succesfully, even with clear hopup rubbers.

I use an exacto-knife (Scalpel) for the nub removal, though some people use sanding paper.
