The material he uses for the R-Hop doesn't come from a hose, I'm really not sure, where it comes from. The outside of the patch is machine made smooth, while the inside, contact part is hand crafted. I think you should reread both the ASM and ASF threads (what's wrong with ASF?), they really offer the best places to learn about how to properly install the patches and use them. Neither go over what they are made of though.

Have you experimented with a Flat Hop mod yet? You can get very similar results with the Flat Hop as compared to the R-Hop, and it's a lot easier to install in a gun than the R-Hop is.

Alright, alright, sorry about that. I've dealt with many people that come asking questions about the hop up and how it works, then how to replicate their own when they don't understand how it works, or aren't able to install it correctly themselves. You are obviously not part of that group. I rather hastily read your original post and some how gathered that you where going to try to install your own or some such nonsense, Please forgive me.

Anyway. I don't think rigidity is what you need when looking for the patch. Mine is tougher than a hop up, but it isn't solid material either. I think part of the reason it isn't sucked into the barrel is just that it's rather large. Unlike the small, flimsy bit used for a G-hop, the R-hop contact patch fills up the whole hop up window. Maybe just find something that's real rubbery, that can grip the bb real well. heck, even just a chunk of rubber might work if you're willing to carve it up.

Also, Flat hop is a project I started last winter. I ended up posting up the data here:
