Just got news from one of the local fields near us that some walk on using a BASR shot through someones cheek because they didn't respect the fields MED.

According to what I've been told the guy shot another player at 20' with a 600fps gun.

The field now has a qualifier for which snipers must pass before using anything that high of a fps. All it takes is one bad apple to spoil the bunch. Lets respect field rules.

Sounds like something one of my friends would do... Made the rule for when they play at my field there is no shooting at about 10ft, they have to say "Bang." might make it 20ft since we have higher fps guns now.

I've played with a guy who got hit by a sniper (unknown range) and it knocked his tooth out along with a chunk of his lip. It was so gruesome!

My friend hot hit with one of those cheap 30$ spring pistols that shoots 250-300fps in the tooth from 10 feet away. His tooth cracked and a chunk of the tooth broke off.

It may be a one in a thousand chance, but accidents do happen.

What is your field limit if I may ask?

The field limit is 500 for sniper rifles but this happened in my backyard. The point of my post before wasn't to tell you he got hurt, because this happened a good year ago. It was to say that airsoft can be dangerous even with safety measures taken such as goggles and fps limit, but they can still help lower risk of injury.

I don't quite remember their field limit but I'm pretty sure it's 600fps for BASRs.

Where we play, if you are not known by someone well known at the field we tend to keep them away from the sniper rifles. There have been to many times that people have been shot at 20 feet or so, and will ruin a day of fun for everyone.

Wow that sucks. Most fields limit basr's to 550, at least where I play. 20ft is an extremely short distance to shoot someone. Most people with common sense would realize that shooting someone that close with anything is likely to cause damage.

I'm just wondering if it was on purpose though. I know some people who have been shot on accident due to lack of awareness of their surroundings resulting in shooting someone who just walked passed their line of sight.

From what I was told they were against each other. It wasn't a team kill or accidental discharge. The guy probably walked up and startled the other guy and he just pulled the trigger without thinking about distance.

When they started enforcing sniper qualifications it was great. It is a pain at first but it seperates the wheat from the chaff if you get my drift.

I know one fella who got shot in the knuckle from about 150ft away, but this rifle he was shot with supposedly shot around 800fps. His knuckle is still sore to bend at times and this is a year later.

Honestly who needs a rifle that shoots over 500fps. Mine currently runs 310 fps and I couldn't be happier.

Our limits are 500fps(with a .2g) and with a 20meter(65ft) MED.

I have seen some one get hit by a 500fps sniper point blank.
He walked in front of a sniper shooting and the bb was stuck in his cheek along the jaw bone,it went in sideways and went up about 10mm for the entry hole.
I've also taken a friends front tooth out at around 40m,after waiting for about 5min to take a body shot, he raised slightly higher over the banking so i took the shot but it went high and hit his top front tooth,which came clean out.
