Hello everyone,
I just entered the world of airsoft a couple weeks ago.

I am writing from the hills of Tuscany, I am 30 years old. Thank you very much for the incredible wealth of information contained in these forums: I hope I can work my way up to a better knowledge and experience with airsoft in general.

I intend to upgrade, step by step, my rifle up to the highest of excellence (a long run :)) as well as increasing my precision and sixth sense with long range shooting in airsoft. I do not want to burn my way to a full upgrade..I'd rather enjoy the journey on step to another, in order to better understand and maximise the usefulness of each improvement.

I don't skirmish and I am not part of any club, I do use my rifle responsibly in private yards and other safe situations. Safety first.

Thanks again for the great site you have here, kind regards and see you around!

For information about me and my rifle(s):

Eheh Woogie I get what you mean! I am trying to keep the pace nice and slow, trying to get to know my gun before upgrading parts..after all I need to get a lot of practice done to better understand all the mechanics involved, the role of each internal etc. This is going to be mandatory to pin point the best upgrades :)

Wow very good intro post. You really elucidated your role in the airsoft world. I went on holidays to Italy. It is the most beautiful country I have ever been to, I hate the usual spanish holidays with fake beeches and hotels everywhere ( the people are lovely though )

I especially like Venice and the Dolomites. Anyway, nice to see another among the Ranks.

Thanks again, I am glad you liked the country..I must say when it is about food, wine, landscape and nature Italy is top notch. We lack a LOT of things from other departments (e.g. productivity, dedication, sense of duty, work and self-improvement ethics etc..) but we do have a nice place.

Anyway, I don't want to make a rant against italians ;) it would be too easy and boring..

..I've added pictures from yesterday's trip ..and since we are all about fieldcraft, here is a Google Maps picture showing the small tree I had my gun under..right in the center of the picture:

Thanks Fuzzywolly! I liked how the foliage green did not go too far from dark earth, maybe if I get my hands on some kind of brown I will try some quick dashes on it, but nothing major because I too like them simple and smooth :)

Great intro! +1 Also, nice paintjob! Thinking of getting into some skirmishes sometime?
I might, who knows. For the moment I am still trying to get my consistency to a level where you guys will roll on the floor laughing :)

UPDATE: I am going to remove the nozzle restrictor soon I found out I have a PCS version with preban bolt but the nozzle has the restrictor brass ring inside..fear not: thou shalt be freed, my M40A1

UPDATE 2: Nozzle restrictor removed...aaaah, 100% preban.

I think I am going to get these upgrades in the near future.

If anyone thinks I should add/change/remove some of the things, feel free to point it out. I know there are experienced Tanaka snipers here :)

Well I would get the airsoft innovations airsoft adapters as they are supposed to be much better. I would also get a 6.03 barrel as they are better IMO. And maybe a shorter barrel like 500mm. But thats just me. I wouldn't go over the guns original barrel length.

1. Airsoft innovation adapters instead of the KA Chamber Conversion Kit?

2. 6.03 better than 6.01, interesting, I was thinking "tighter = better" but it seems wrong:

3. Shorter barrels in airsoft seem to deliver more accuracy, I've read that somewhere about Systemas..it was a discussion on accuracy between CQB and non CQB M4 versions.

4. Not longer than the original barrel lenght..noted! :)

Thanks for the -extremely precious- information.

Thanks! I was thinking about that, too. There are a lot of factors and good theories that can attract me like magnets, some seem very well done and scientifically driven..nothing would beat field testing it...the PDI 6.01 long barrel is a instinctive temptation..for sure.

However, most Tanaka users reported better accuracy on 6.03 (balance between power and accuracy), or even 6.05 and 6.08

The guys who reported it are not looking for extreme FPS setups, which in my turn would allow me more distant target shooting and therefore more room for long range fun.

I know BBs are not air pellets, but air pellets give me a bad feeling, maybe it is because of all those small animals killing videos around the internet..bleah.

A 6.01 longer barrel is going to push the FPS to another good 30-50...so more long range fun, in theory..because in practice we all know that if the rifle is messed up and not accurate, you get A LOT of frustration..

that is what is almost leading me to get the 6.03 Laylax (half the price of the PDI 6.01mm too!)

I am going to measure my ID as well, some said the Tanaka M40A1 got out of the factory with a 6.03, for some time.

Next time I open my barrel I am going to take note of the ID..a caliber tool would be awesome ;)
