Riot Shield Project

I have recently started helping out a friend with a riot shield project, trying to make it field user friendly. ::)

He was able to show me the almost finished shield, and I must say it is looking pretty bad ass. I started a ghillie blanket to attach to the shield to make it concealed in a woodland environment. While I will not be using it, I thought it would be cool to make it "airsoft game effective" in a outdoor environment.

I will be posting some pics of the blanket soon, as well as some riot shield shots on friday.

I know some of you are CQBer's, and would love to see some shields of your own as well.
This is an attempt to make a shield outdoor user friendly, something the last shield failed at....Too small and stuck out like a sore thumb, making flanking the shield operator an easy tactic.

I made one of cardboard (3 layers, pretty strong) and about 5 layers of duct tape. I also made a little combat vest to use with it, using the same methods (CB and Duct Tape). It even comes with a holster! Unfortunately, it doesn't stand up to well against a baseball bat...

Sorry about the quality, these are taken with a piece of crap Xbox LIVE vision camera (NOO Idea what happened to the digital camera).

This is both, fun to just run around in.

This is just the shield, you can see the bat damage a bit here. You can't see it in this pic, but there is a sheet of plexiglas running down the inside, keeps it bulletproof.

And now the vest. Pretty simple, only took about 90 mins to make. Has a pretty well universal holster in it, and a pocket for dead rags or whatever you feel like putting in there.

I used these once just as a distraction/lure, and it worked pretty well. Since my gun lacks in range, I need to get close, and this worked to divert their attention for those few vital seconds to get off a couple shots.
