Hello all, it’s nice to be back after quite a while with an interesting project.

I picked up an S&T M200 for a bargain price and I’d like to have it shooting as well as it can with it’s admittedly flawed design. Fortunately, I’m limited to 328 fps so that mitigates some of the issues I face.

The inner barrel (800mm :/) and hopup are AEG spec but my query centres around the cylinder and bolt itself. I know there was a C02 bolt and the Mancraft bolt but I’d like to keep it spring powered.

What spring type does this thing accept? Can a VSR bolt assembly be swapped in?

I’m sure there’s at least one of these around that shoots reasonably well. Any info is appreciated.

You're pretty much in a dead end as far as upgrade parts go. Most people that do upgrade parts are building their own custom cnc parts for it. It doesn't take traditional VSR springs and has a very small cylinder volume due to the short stroked bolt. If you absolutely had to have an M200, the ares version would have been the best choice due to it being partially VSR compatible.

I think mine is the Beta Project one after all (seems identical to the S&T) which is apparently a clone of the Ares. Bolts are swappable between them.

Do you know what parts are VSR compatible? I’ve been googling for hours trying to figure this out. The joys of the second hand market.

I know this will never touch a VSR or an AEG but I’d like to getting shooting as well as it is able to, I want to drag it out at least once for the laugh.

It is not the same as the ares. Here's a video of the bolt pull on the S&T. There's no way that it is VSR compatible cylinder wise. (time stamp around 12:50). Unfortunately because this is the case, there's really nothing that is VSR compatible in the S&T version.

The good news is that the piston and spring guide are aluminum rather than plastic so for the joule count you're going for, you shouldn't need to upgrade it. If anything, you can maybe polish the cylinder and maybe fit a better o-ring on the piston head. The hop up unit is also a decent enough design and is TDC by default so you don't really need much there either. I think it's an AEG rubber (not 100% sure though) so you're looking at doing your normal AEG barrel group. There's enough threads out there discussing what good aeg bucking/barrel combos are so just refer to those.

I have actually been using that video as my guide for taking it apart, I’d be lost without that guy. I’ve found a manual for the Beta Project M200 and it’s exploded diagram looks identical to the S&T parts wise, so far as I can tell. Maybe an OEM change or something.

Seems like I’m kind of done with my upgrades then, just need a stronger spring as the stock one is putting out some pretty weak FPS or I’ve a leak. I’m not sure, it’s tough to test leaks on this thing.

Much obliged for the tips and info, lots of conflicting info on these out there.
