I have four packs of that stuff that I used with my m4 when it rained out. This helped keep my rifle from getting wet and damaging anything. However, on a bolt action rifle you will not be able to cover the whole rifle, without it looking ugly. The barrel is easily covered but has to stop before the magazine catch. The scope is also easy to wrap. Just make sure to leave the spot where the rings are attached unwrapped, otherwise the rings wont fit.

Overall, this can easily cover most of the rifle but I recommend a different color than the acu. That is the kind I had and I think its ugly. If you use this, add some rubber bands for vegetation and it will look pretty nice.

Yeah, it will work. I used to use it over top of my barrel and then attached some natural vegetation on top using some rubber bands. The camo tape prevented scratches on my barrel from the leaves stems, etc.

Overall, I say go for it. Even if you mess up, just take it off and start it up again

Its pretty hard to tape the gun itself (the stock) and still make it look good. It can be done with a little bit of effort. I just never bothered much with it on my l96 because I use a different rifle wrap. If you are interested in trying it out, go for it. I know a site that sells each wrap for $5. Just cannot remember its name at the moment.
