Silencing mods for my GBB?

16310 Views 15 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  king..kranium
I currently own a KJW Beretta M92 and am trying to figure out some ways to quiet the shots down a bit. Don't get me wrong I love how much it pops but I would like to know what upgrades or mods I could do to quiet it down if possible. Any suggestions? I am not to familiar with GBB yet so forgive me if I'm a bit slow with understanding their internals if you try to describe them to me. Links to good DIY videos are also appreciated!

there really isn't much you can do. The slide racking back and forth is always going to be present. I highly doubt there is much you can do to make it quieter.
The ONLY thing that you can do is disable the blow back by putting a piece of a rubber (As in the kind you rub out pencil with) on ghe hammer so that it hits the gas ejection buttton with only enough force to send out enough gas to throw out the bb and not rack the slide. You'll have to manually re-cock it though.
Besides the previous recommendations:

  1. A mock suppressor may change the sound frequency of the pop sound, but not necessarily the volume.
  2. Heavier BB's
  3. Longer and/or Wider Inner Barrel *
  4. Internally lowering the FPS with a reduced output gas flow valve, etc.**
*I don't recommend this one b/c length would have to be lengthened significantly or bore would have to be increased which is usually bad for accuracy up close.
**Less gas released, less sound at muzzle, less FPS, less speed, less power. If you don't want to lower your FPS then this is not recommended, obviously :D

In general these may lower the decibel level a little, but not whisper quiet.

Ok, thanks for the info guys. I was starting to come to the same conclusion myself after all the research I did yesterday. It was worth looking into though!

I've never heard of this, but it's a pretty cool idea. I'll try it with my next GBB.

Link for the mod:
Well can't u use a very fine drill bit and spiral the end of the barrel. It's like a silencer but not illegal.

Probably only want to do it on a pistol with a double action trigger. Unless you like doing cowboy impressions I guess...

That's not going to quieten the slide racking back and forward...
He asked how to quiet shots. Not quiet the slide...

No point in silencing shots if it's the slide that is making 85% of the noise....
In your opinion. Also I don't know if your guns are the same but I feel like alot of the noise is coming from the bbs exiting the barrel. Also wouldn't more quiet be better than saying" golly gee I can't do nothing"?

Im no an expert, but a port on your barrel inside the slide may help mask the sound signature, but that would reduce your velocity and more than likely would cause accuracy problems as well. inthetallgrass however is correct, slide movment will be causing most of your noise, which is why revolvers are the most effective "Real Steel" supressed pistols.

Better save yourself the hassle than go and do something that'll make no difference over all whatsoever.

Go ahead, get a silencer adapter for a GBB pistol and put it on the biggest suppressor you can find.
Yes, the gas will be silenced significantly but the slide will still make as much noise as ever.

Get a NBB and put on a silencer, then you'll be amazed...:yup:
Challenge accepted. But I want to "customize" the mock suppressor. Also I plan to use a threaded barrel instead of an adapter. I've heard adding weight to the barrel via suppressors can wear down a slide... Is it the internals that would be damaged because the slide itself seems very durable? Also what can I reinforce to prevent/slow wear and tear? Admittedly it's mostly for looks. Because it looks frigging sweet. But I will test and report my findings in a few weeks when I get paid again.
