Hi guys, for some context, I live in the Philippines where EDGI is local, we have field limits that measure in FPS limits and not joules. Our fields are dominantly outdoor and windy, and even with the high FPS limits in our country, players here can be very.. tanky.

450 FPS AEGs @0.20
550 FPS Bolt action snipers @0.20

I'm going to be getting my Tac41 next week and will be immediately upgrading it with a full EDGI kit.

Here is the kit:
Tac41 Full kit with SAP

SAP - Shock Absorbing Piston
Polyurethane Cap
Anodized Stainless Body
Stainless Steel Base
Delrin Glide Ring
800 to 150 Grams

Tight Inner Barrel
High Brass
Lapped and Polished
6.01 to 6.05 Inner Diameter options
Standard OD

Spring Options
Carbon Spring Wire 500 or 550 or 650 FPS options
2, 3, 4 ,5 and 6Joule Options

Spiralled Cylinder Body and Head
316L Stainless Steel
Food Grade
Dual Oring Seal

My GOAL for the build is to be hopefully shooting with 0.45 BBs with the most range and LEAST FPS drop from 0.20 BBs as possible while staying within limits.
My questions for you experienced snipers while staying within our field limits are:
1. What weights should I be ideally using with the SAP to get the best results?
2. What inner barrel diameter should I get to achieve my goal and have the best accuracy?
3. I should be going for the 550fps spring option for the best results right?
4. What joule option should I be going for? (hopefully 3j+)
5. Should I be using 0.48 BBs instead of 0.45? What BB weight would you use to achieve this goal?

I've done some research on joule creep but from all the videos and material i've read im not confident as to say that I fully understand it, but from what ive gathered
I can use joule creep to get the least amount of FPS loss when using heavier BB weights since we usually play outdoors and I dont want my shots to be easily dodged and weak enough for tanky players to just absorb the shots.

Do you need to upgrade it out of the box? I mean do as you please but its perfectly capable stock to use! The Tac-41 is next on my list of things to buy. If you're going to change the barrel watch out for the hop rubber as its very easy to damage.

Hello, yeah id prefer to upgrade it out of the box as ive tried a stock Tac41 that a buddy has and the BBs arent shooting as fast as I want them to be with .43s and above. We dont really play indoors here in my country and while all the other snipers are running 500fps minimim i dont wanna be at a disadvantage

Could you just swap the spring? The Internals inside are built to handle it.

Here in the UK the FPS limit is 500 on 0.20s and 2.32 joules.
A tac 41 I tried at the last game I played the guy only changed the spring to a stronger one and it was easily hitting 85m dead straight

Yeah I could but I wanna be firing at around 3j+ above 370fps hence the sap, i wanted to see and confirm with people if thats possible while staying within the 550fps limit

Bro intentionally bypassing FPS rules via JC is plainly wrong and dangerous.

there are more knowledgable folks than I here but the heavier the piston, the lower the fps with lighter BB’s (0.2) but higher with heavier (0.40+).
For example.

At this very moment, literally just tested my T11 (VSR clone) and it fires 460-470 fps which is just 2 to 2.1J with 0.2s (but with 0.43 (usually use 0.48s but they’re out of stock everywhere) it fires witching 2fps of 360fps which is 2.6J.

I play at a site which still uses the same rules as you. Max 500fps with 0.20g in a bolt action.

This is all down to the fact that I wrapped my piston in solder to weigh it down and quieten the action. It now weighs 100g (+/- 10g) instead of 40g.
Before hand I was getting 495/500fps with 0.2s and 310fps with 0.43s (if my memory is correct).

I should state that I don’t like this though and have already purchased another spring to lower the fps to my desired range as I wish to attend sites where it’ll be legal to play with and not cause injury.

Update, I had a spare Rapax 2j+ spring in my Type 96 (got to many "unknown" springs laying around so I thought, as I'm not currently using the Type 96 I'll nick its spring).

I took it own, using the Dremel I took off about 8 coils (yes, 8!!).
I then resealed the ends with a blow torch and sanded/grinded the ends down to be flat.

I then whipped it back in and it fired at a holy...drum roll... 440 fps!
After a dozen or so shots it actually bedded in to around 455, within 2 or 3 fps.
So that's just under 2j, which makes sense with the spring being a 2j+ Rapax which i trimmed.

I then put in the 0.43's and boom, point proven.

340 FPS, 2.31 Joules.

Which if you put into an FPS calculator should equate to 500 FPS with a 0.20g BB.

Playing in the UK I find some sites flip between Joules and FPS limits so it's better to be safe than sorry.
The official UK law is 2.5J with a bolt action.

I disagree. It's not bypassing the rules. The rules are just bad. In a legal case, you would absolutely win. Imo as long as you keep a safe MED, u aren't going to hurt anyone following their rules.

My AA M130 has been worn in and I'm getting 448 fps on 0.20s which is 320 on 0.45 2.21 joules, perfectly just within the limits with a bit of play room!

I am tempted to get 0.43s is there a big difference between them and 0.45s?

You’ll probably find they travel a little further but will be more effected by wind pal.
But it’s a minor difference.
You may find your joules drop a little too.
It would depend on your piston weight as well!

I would argue a field that limits a sniper to less than 2.8J with AEGs firing up 1.5J is a much worse ruleset.
