I recently bought an sr-25 as hopefully a long range accurate dmr rifle, but after my battery fried itself about 200 rounds through shooting it I put it aside. The electric just doesnt seem optimal as it is loud and heavy. So I did some research and found that the JG bar 10 was an extremely good gun with some upgrades, so I figure I can probably sell the CA-25 for 250 ish as a practically new gun and use that money to buy a BAR 10 and upgrade parts. What do you think, I like the idea of a DMR but im not sure if the CA-25 is particularly practical.

It depends on what you commonly do. If you work with a team and are an SDM than a DMR might be a good choice and I would just give the gun some work. If your a bigger fan of long shots or "lone wolfing" I would get a springer like the bar10. I personally use my extended m16 with my team when the enemy knows my general location anyway and I need to give cover fire and my L96 when I try to stay quiet and far by myself or with one.

Personal preference

The comparison between the two is like apples to oranges... Aeg vs springer. They both have their own good and bad qualities. Bar-10's are great guns and many people preach them for the easiness they carry for upgrading.

By the way... Is that SR-25 restricted to Semi only?

Ok thanks for the replies. I normally play as a sniper but I am to lazy often times to find the patience to sit around and wait for someone too walk by. Optimally I am looking for a rifle that will allow me to play well at one of the large games in California. I'm planning on driving down there. I'm not certain whether a dmr or a basr is more suited for those games. And no I'm not restricted to semi auto so if you don't call your hit your are in for a world of hurt. Btw I love spending time tinkering with my guns it's a big part of the fun for me.

Before you sell that sr-25 make sure you will be completely ok with a bolt action gun and will enjoy cocking it everytime before you shoot. Because it doesn't live up to a lot of people's expectations.
If you are sure you will like the sniper role and don't want an attention whore like a dmr is then sale it and get a sniper rifle. You will be able to make it quite nice with the extra money from the sr-25.

Edit: just saw your post, if you love tinkering then stick with an aeg cause they require it to be good. And it sounds like you enjoy AEG's more. So don't give up on them even though they are a HUGE pain!
