Looking at AR parts recently and I saw the Geissele Super42 spring which supposedly lasts longer, is quieter, and has more power than an equivalent forced spring.
By lasting longer, I mean it doesn't get shorter nearly as fast.
After doing some more research, high quality guns like HK and SIG occasionally use braided springs for the same reasons, as well as many non-firearms applications.
In airsoft this technology may be beneficial in AEGs for sound, possible power boost, and consistency, but it would likely be more appreciated by BASR users as our goals are different and we go to further extremes.
