Tanaka M24 Questions

3214 Views 16 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  snipes9snipes
I am going to buy a Tanaka M24 (unless somebody has a convincing argument for the M700 or the M40) and I am VERY confused about all of the talk of upgrades. I am looking to upgrade it to make it more accurate powerful and durable than stock, but after reading all of the articles and posts about upgrades, it gets very confusing and I just don't understand. What upgrades should I get and how do I install them? Or can you give me a link about how to install them?

Make a intro post first.
Its nothing against you, its nice to know who you are and what kind of history you have in airsoft. Then we can answer your question better. I am not a admin or mod i am just trying to help you out before they do see it.
oh okay thanks
and I just made an intro and I can tell you've seen it
What version are you looking to get they have 3 now, on sale on RedWolf. The Tanaka M24 SWS(second version is just a fluted barrel and long mag), and Tanaka M24 (shell ejecting version).

Also from my understanding the M700 and M24 have the same internals the only difference is that the M24 has the adjustable butt pad on the stock.
The SWS non-fluted non-shell ejecting.
Also, what is fluting?
Fluting is where a barrel has grooves cut into it and possibly increase heat dissapation. I'll post a pic of My CA M24s fluted barrel if you need one, which I don't think you do as there are plenty of pics.
I've seen what it looks like i just wanted to know what it was so thank you and now we can get back on topic.

Thats what it does on real steal in airsoft it just adds strength to it.

Here are some local places to get upgrades

Those will increase fps, if you are not looking in to converting to HPA, which I highly suggest you do for a more consistent fps.

For accuracy here is a barrel cut for the m24

thanks but if i was going to convert to hpa, can i still use those upgrades? and do i need them for the internals to be stronger?
also, i was looking for a 6.03 but i can find one on my own

There is a link for a 6.04, I couldn't find a 6.03 that would fit with out modifications. As said in this tread here-

Like it says the M24 has a shorter barrel, so you can't use a M700 barrel in it. Also I don't suggest doing what they did, unless you know what your doing.
Is there a reason for wanting a 6.03 vs a 6.01, the differences are negligible as stated in this link

fourth post down.
thanks for the helpful info
I want a 6.03 because it is almost exactly the same performance except that i have to keep a 6.01 perfectly clean or it will jam
can't I just get the laylax 650 mm and get a tread adapter and barrel extension? or will I need modifications to make it fit into my hop-up?
you could but you might have to drill out the center of the adapter to allow the barrel trough, you wold need a barrel extender a little bigger then 80mm I think. If the normal one is around 585-590, then a 80mm silencer should cover it up. about the hop-up cut I believe it is a round cut, im not sure exactly, you should ask fuzzy, or woogie.
okay thanks
i've sent woogie a PM
