Ok guys since there has been a bit of talk here on the forums about how barrel length will change the performance of a rifle. So I figured I would get some things together and get some testing started.

So I am going to be in need of a few things......



A rifle, I really don't care what kind, but something where the hop up isn't crap I may just end up trying to find a G-spec or just get a Blaser.

Barrels!! Let me know what you guys have, be it stock inner barrels, or those that you bought but didn't end up using.

Ideas! This is going to be a test for you guys, so I want to know what you want to see tested. Simple as it sounds...... I plan on testing the accuracy out in my back yard, so the distance will be just under 100', I also plan on doing some 25' and 50' testing as well.




I am not looking at spending a ton of money on this, but if needed I do have some set aside. When I am done testing I will more than likely put her up for sale.... but as a raffle. Those that donated parts will get a free ticket, and those that want to buy a ticket can. I will have my wife pick a number at random, so I have no say in who gets the prize. And then the winner will be contacted and the rifle will be shipped out to them, and I do plan on doing a few other "goodies" to her as well



Donate a barrel....... 1 ticket
Donate a rifle ........ 5 tickets
Donate others ........ 1 ticket ( this is going to depend on what you donate )


When you are going to send something let me know, and I will keep a running tab here in the test thread to the numbers that each person has. Donate more, and get more tickets

I have a few stock inner barrels lying around here somewhere.
From 300mm to 515mm.
I also have a stock m24 hop up if that can be of any use to you.

A aeg would be better imho, as barrels are easier to find, and you can easily change cylinder volume.

That is just it though..... I am going to leave the spring and cylinder volume the same for the entire testing process. That and being as many of us here use a boltie, I am going that route.

Well, you can put a block of something behind the cylinderhead to so the volume goes down.

Depending on what I can get put together was thinking maybe $5 or so a ticket. I will keep some money to cover what ever costs there are.... and the rest I was thinking about donating to the wounded warrior project

Regarding the testing, I think you might have to use spacers for all the barrels being tested. Different lengths will have different vibrational characteristics, so IMHO only a one-piece spacer (i.e. paper/wax spacer) can level the playing field so to say.

Ok well I broke down and bought a G-spec, and I will be using this rifle for the testing. If people want to donate things let me know, can still do the raffle style for the parts and what not, and depending on if I am able to get enough people I may put up the G-spec as well
