for me its
sniper/DM- if you shoot a lot you will be found and shot quickly. you are of no help to your team dead.
medic- can't revive enemies
C.O.- cant control troops, no attacks
gunner- usually have big, obnoxious guns with high R.O.F. and some have a massive mag. capacity
normal rifle men- usually just normal soldiers unless they have a very upgraded gun

also, how do you say what rank you are?(ex. young gun, adv. sniper, jr. sniper etc.?)

You basically just summarized the initial topic.

Aren't you the person who keeps getting banned from AS for double posting and terrible grammar?

i know this might be a necro post but it is stickied and i wanted to add my thoughts.

in pick up games i see it more like target of opportunity. you mostly know all the teams that play there and what they can do on the field, hence you know what target to shoot.

in mil-sim it is a different affair. i don´t know how it is played in the US so i write out of my experience from Berget Events.

i would always pick the commander first. he is the man with a radio channel to HQ. if he is gone, no enemy reinforcement. no information to enemy HQ.

the squads usually knows the importance of their commander and tries to save him. if someone tries to drag the commander to safety that is your new target. you have already done the shot so it should be easy to take this brave soul. if it is the medic it is even better.

next up is the medic. he is realy important to take out. without a medic the enemy squad will bleed out and must respawn witch can be some clics away.

if the enemy squad has a SAW, take him out for your own security.

after this you should take in the situation. can you keep on sniping or should you evac?

hey, what about enemy snipers in the squad? well, usually they are true scout snipers, lone wolfs and not part of enemy squads at berget events. but if you see one take him out pronto. at this forum and at a lot of sites in the states their may be a fps limit of 500 but not in sweden.
at berget events there are 4 classes of bolt action rifles. the lowest are class 5 witch ranges from 462fps to 492fps.
the highest are class 8 with a max limit of 688fps. 0.43g BB and safety limit/distance of 40m (131 feet/44 yards)
be afraid, be very afraid.

and to add about the discussion about killing medics in real wars. yes, terrorist don´t care who dies in the name of their cause.
but for nations and some armed groups with some brain, they do not want the medics to die. and that is for several reasons.
the medics may save their own lifes.
dead soldiers often streangthen the resolve of the enemy (retribution, vengeance and the like)
and more important, a dead soldier is less cumbersome for the enemy. a wounded soldier cost a shitload of money, time and resources.

Personally for me if the squad is in formation or moving in a line i will take out the furthest from me as his/her hand raising wont alert the others because they are in the back and cant be seen. I learned this strategy from a previous marine scout sniper while i was digging through another forum. Ive used it ever since and its worked everytime

This past weekend at payback at Kalahar -at 878 airsoft , I had an assassination mission in the middle of the game. My team went and occupied the attention of the enemy, trying to recapture the captured Colonel Rusky. I was presented with a real target problem. My team had most of the enemy attacking them, but the enemy had left behind an RPD Gunner and a minigun to guard against my assassination target. I was successful sneaking into the CQB city without being contacted. I got to 200 feet I gave my assassination target a BB and he fell. My hide was solid, and I didn't move after the shot. The two gunners moved to cover, further away. Now I had to go over to the dead assassination target and lift a picture out of his pocket... so now I have to get these two guys. I wait for the wind to die. When I creep around the Cedar tree that I'm using to block their view, and take a shot, rechamber another BB after leaning back behind the tree. I lean out just in time to see the mini gun confirm that I've hit him, and I take the third shot. Sweet- RPD gunner faces me and raises hand as hit. I race in grab the information and head back to the forest. And we got some more points for that.

There is a great scene in the movie Full Metal Jacket. A sniper takes out a rifleman who lies screaming, the medic runs to help and is hit. This principle is also true in Milsim, the higher the original target value the more likely the opportunity for a medic kill.
