The Guide to making your own Homemade Barrel Suppressor/LRB

So after doing a lot of research on LRBs I have come up with a simple and effective way to do it. This way that I have done it is a combination of many different ways that i have seen and read people doing. In order to do this mod your inner barrel will have to stick our past the outer barrel. So lets get to it.

Tools:
Set screw or any screw you prefer
Nut to fit screw
Drill
Drill Bit a little bit smaller than screw
JB weld or some kind of strong glue
Super Glue or Gurrila Glue
2 Pieces of PVC
High Density Foam
Electrical Tape
Metal Pipe that fits over inner barrel

Here is a picture of some of the stuff you will need

Step one:
Make a barrel spacer that fits very tight, like this..

Place the barrel spacer about 1/3 of the barrel length away from your hop up unit.

Step two:
Put the metal pipe on the tip of your barrel about half an inch from the end of your inner barrel. This is so when you adjust the screw you wont dig it into your precious inner barrel. Make sure it is secure and fits tight of the barrel, like this..

Step three:
Find a piece of PVC that fits very tight around your outer barrel, and cut it to how ever long you want your suppressor to be. Now take another piece of PVC(same legnth as first piece) that fits tight over the first piece of PVC. Now glue these two piece together, so it will look like this...

Step four:
Now you want to drill a small hole in the newly made suppressor about an inch back from the front. Here is a technique to make sure you get the hole in the center of the pvc. Put a quarter or some thing flat on the top of the suppressor and then put a mark right where the quarter touches the pvc in the center. Like this.......

Now Drill the hole. If you are using a hand drill make sure you have it perfectly straight.

Step five:
Screw the set screw into the pvc so that some of the screw sticks out on the inside. Now screw the nut onto the screw. tighten the nut down and then put some jb weld around it. Like this...

This is so when the threads on the pvc wear out you will have the nut. Let this dry for 24 hours.

Step six:
Cut a small piece of some high density foam and glue it to the metal pipe at the end of your inner barrel. I used so pipe insulation you can buy at like Lowes or Home Depot. Make sure the foam is really thick. This foam is to make sure the inner barrel is being pressed up tight against the set screw. If you can think of something better to use then foam let me know!

Step seven:
slide the suppressor over your inner barrel so that the set screw lines up with the metal pipe at the end of your inner barrel.
If the suppressor is to loose you can put e-tape around your outer barrel to make it a tighter fit.

Step eight:
Adjust the screw till of have the barrel move 1-2mm from the center. Now TEST! To adjust for side to side curve just twist the suppressor till the bb flies straight. Twisting the suppressor till the bb flies straight will verify that the bend in the barrel is straight up and down.

Congratulations you know have a new suppressor and LRB!
Here is the rifle i did it too. A Well MB04

Now i could tell your after doing this mod your gun will be shooting ten times further but i have no clue how much further it will shoot. >:D

Now take this idea and make it into what will fit your gun and your preference. And let everybody know of any thing you have done different by posting here.

I have not done any crazy before and after test so if you want to do that then go for it and let us know how it went.

Thanks for reading and i hope it works out great!

Great guide. Been waiting for it all morning haha :D I'll head over to Home Depot when this heat cools down and shop for PVC pipes. Gotta give this a try :D
I know the lbr is bending the barrel to give it better hop. But doesnt the barrel need to be bent in the middle and not on the end. I dont really know but i thought i read that some where. Nice job with the pictures and every thing.
Aureus, thanks! Let me know about your results.

Subject 1, there are two styles of LRBs. One with the bend up in the middle and then it flattens out. The other has a spacer 1/3 away from your hop up unit and slowly bends down. The builder does it the first way and Vindi and cheese man have been known todo it the second way. I have been told either way works but the one with the set screw at the end is better because you can measure the distance you move it.

The LRB doesn't really "give" hop. The hop up unit gives hop and the LRB stabilizes it. If you still aren't sure what it does you can look around on the forum because there has been a lot of talk about it.

Oh yeah, I just noticed this ( while re-reading your guide again, helps me to better understand things :p), but do you slide the entire PVC pipe over the barrel with the screw facing towards the end of the barrel? Or do you put the side with the screw first (towards the scope)? I think the first option minimizes the barrel length ( I don't like having a gun the length of a telephone pole...)
Thanks hunter for clearing that up.

Cool Guide. You may want to put grub screws into the silencer so they screw onto the outer barrel. This will lock the silencer in place.

You can also friction fit the silencer on.. Stack teflon tape until its a tight fit. There's no chance of damaging your barrel ( pretty sure there's people out there who would cry over a scratch on their PDI barrel, not that its a bad thing haha)

Edit: Actually 1 in PVC pipe fits pretty darn tight ( enough to strip my paintjob off the outer barrel), so I don't think I'll need to drill a hole through the outer barrel.. I plan to stick a screw on top of the last 10 mm of the inner barrel and leave like 2-3 for a flash hider ( gonna need to drill some holes etc to simulate a muzzle break/flash hider...)

The end with the screw goes away from your gun. So the end with out the screw can rest on the barrel. If y'all want a can upload a pic of me putting it on?

And yeah you can put on some grub screws or use friction or glue it. Do what ever you prefer. But I can tell you if you put enough electrical tape on the outer barrel so it fits tight, it won't be going anwhere.

Oh I see. thanks for clearing that up. I'll wait til HS5 ships me the r hop etc and I'll post pics asap
So doing the LRB mod the second way having the screw towards the end of the barrel what is the distance from the front of the barrel you want to have the set screw to push down on the inner barrel?

I have been reading about this LRB mod but for some reason it has not clicked yet in my head on exactly what needs to be done to do this I would like some better explanation on this who ever can help...Thank you
Lock the barrel at the hopup, move about 1/3rd down from that one and lock it down again. Then run screws to adjust the very end of the barrel.
Pretty much exactly what backspin said but I will see I I can explain it differently.

When doing the LRB this way you want to have a barrel spacer 1/3 the distance of your barrel away from your hop up unit and then you want to have a screw or wedge at the very tip of your inner barrel pushing the inner barrel down 1-2 mm depending on what you system needs. This will create a slight bend from the barrel spacer to the end of the barrel. So now when you shoot your gun the bb will go straight for a 1/3 of the barrel and then right when the bend starts the bb will hit the top of the barrel and ride along the top of the barrel creating a nice constant backspin.

So in my mod we have te barrel spacer to represent the barrel space in the description above and the the screw to push down the inner barrel is in the suppressor I made. So your inner barrel will have to stick out past your gun a little. You slide the end of the suppressor with out the screw over the front of the outer barrel so that when you adjust the screw it will push down on the inner barrel. The foam under the inner barrel is to keep upwards pressure on the inner barrel so it will sit tightly in place against the screw. Now you twist the suppressor which will adjust the angle of the bend in the barrel till the bb flies straight.

Hope this helps. If you need pictures of anything just ask.

Thank you that actually was a perfect explanation I've got it now, So seeing as I can't really do the second form of the LRB mod since i have a threaded end on the end of my outer barrel that a part of the outer barrel, the inner barrel is a tight fit to that threaded end. So I can do the first form of the LRB mod with the screw in the middle of the barrel. This will be harder to do right because I have to get it perfectly TDC on the outer barrel so it will end up shooting straight.

One question doing this version of the LRB mod and that is do I have to have a barrel spacer any amount of distance "1/3 length of the from hopup", from the hopup chamber?

Nope, its basically the length of the inner barrel ( that's not inside the hop up chamber) divided by 3. Then using that number, measure from the end of the hop up chamber and that's where you put a barrel spacer.

I'd draw it out and everything, but it'll look stupid and probably confuse you even more haha.

If you do the one with the screw in the middle you don't need barrel spacers anywhere. And yes make sure the screw is perfectly in the center! And then you will need to probably put a screw or wedge at the front on top of the inner barrel so it will flatten out the barrel. I'm not very familiar with this version of the LRB. And personally I wouldn't do it because I just don't see how it could work very well and it puts a lot of stress on the barrel at the hop up unit because of the sudden upward pressure. The Builder does this version using a wedge made from a tube split in half. So he could probably give you more tips and advice. That version is the way flatline barrels work in paintball is about all I know.

So I did some more shooting with this mod and I found another great use for it!!! You can twist the suppressor to shoot straighter when there is wind!!! So say the wind is curving your shots to the left, just twist the barrel to the right and now it will shoot straight through the wind! Now if you are shooting in high winds then I doubt it will work as well but for smaller winds it works great!

Great tip :D Taking a step back and looking at all the benefits of this LRB, I have to say this is a lot better than the traditional "spacer @ 1/3, wedge at the end of the barrel" method. I seriously want to try this right now, but my r hop patches still haven't come yet. :/
Yeah make sure you get your gun shooting great with the r-hop patch before you do this mod. Can't wait to hear how it goes.

Yeah i know. xD
Will this work with a steel barrel. And how do you get your guns range out to 100 yards. Mine gets out to ,70 yards and drops.
