Hey!

I'm the owner of a well type 96 wich is pretty much done for now, I love how it shoots :) . Now I have nothing to work on, and I have developped a desire to get a gas rifle. KJW is the cheapest ''good'' gas rifle brand that I know and I was comparing both their most popular models, the m700 and the 10/22. This will be my first gas rifle, so I would like to know which needs the less work to get going properly. Is their potential equal? Basically I want to know, what would you choose if you had the money to buy one? ( I live in canada and they both run for about 300$ each, so the price is not a problem).

PS: I know they are not the same, one is a boltie and the other is a semi auto rifle. But I am interested in seeing you guy's opinions. Gotta love internet :shot:

As I already own the M700, I opted to go for the 10/22 this time around. And I will actually be DMR-erizing it when I have enough money to buy myself one. But really, the choice here is not about the gun, as both are very solid. The choice is about the play style best suited to you. I'm sorry to parrot that line, but really, it's true. If you enjoy the run-'n-gun, as many people do, or if you enjoy supporting your team from a squad, the 10/22 is the weapon you'll need. If you prefer the style of the silent hunter, creeping along in the shadows undetected, the M700 is what you want.

Hey there thanks for your opinion. I really do like the point you bring up here. As I already have a boltie, I could fill an other role by getting the 10/22. I hope you pile up enough to buy yourself one, it seems to be a very cool gun! Any other thoughts, opinions or experiences with these 2 guns?

Voted for M700. My experience with GBBRs, though being little, tells me that they're poor choice for sniper/DMR rifles - blowback kind of screws up accuracy. But they're most fun to play with and can still be pretty accurate. If you're not looking to outperform snipers with BASRs it's definitely worth it.
In your case, seeing that you already have a bolt-action rifle, I would probably consider getting 10/22.

My only concern is the conversion to HPA. I mean changing magazines on the field and tapping them all is going to be a PITA. I'm not sure about the 10/22 but the m700 absolutely needs this and with its 10 round mag, this means you reload a lot.

It means you make your shots count with the 10rnd mag rather than know that if you miss you can have a followup shot in the air before the first one gets half way there.

The kco2 (10/22) is hard to upgrade... You need to order a custom hop chamber from Shapeways in order to expand the amounts of bucking so/barrels you can use.

The more I research, the more I realize gas is a lot of hastle for what it is. I am leaning towards an other boltie now... lol. Bar-10 it should be. I guess I like how complex these things can get to upgrade, and still be so simple overall. Ill update you guys on what I get.

I own both and both are HPA tapped.

Both work well stock and both can benefit from some serious upgrades. Parts were no more difficult to source for the KC02 as they were for the M700. Neither was difficult to upgrade considering they have fewer internal parts than an AEG gearbox. With HPA, both demonstrate outstanding stability beyond that of your average off-the-shelf part springer builds.

It simply comes down to if you want semi-auto with 30 shots or bolt action with 10-28 shots.

Of course, you can just do the BAR-10 thing.

Thanks Corriander. I guess what I really wanted was a vsr rifle lol. And I don't know if any of you have tried them but Mancraft SDiK kits are made for the bar-10 so I could have my bar-10 turned into a gas rifle and my type 96 as a springer.

I don't own the KJW M700 but I do own a few Tanaka M700 and a couple KJW KC-02 (10/22) the KC-02 is absolutely amazing! Very customizable and it's fieldable right out of the box, decent range and accuracy from the first bb!
Yes upgrading it can be trouble but now there are 3d printed AEG and VSR conversion kits. I own a VSR conversion kit but I haven't installed it yet.

It's an amazing little gun it's very very light and compact! I run it on propane with very stable fps around 450!
I'm very pleased with it the one in the blue stock is maxed the other is mostly stock internally.
