Is the TM L96 compatible with PSS2 or is it compatible with PSS10?

No and no.
The pss2 parts are for Maruzen aps 2 series. So like the piston, piston head, cylinder head etc. would fit work on a maruzen type96, but some parts like trigger unit and cylinder won't.
Pss10 are vsr-10 parts, so no.
Pss96 parts are for Maruzen type 96.

The Tokyo Marui AWS uses whole new cylinder/piston. VSR parts are not compatible. There is a rumor tough that the vsr-10 trigger unite could work on the TM l96.

Cracked mine open today and most parts are proprietary even the outer barrel is threaded and screws into the receiver, so upgrading is going to be a bitch. Very nice rifle though shoots superbly stock.

But yeah the cylinder is actually smaller than a VSR. So that means all of the internals are going to be different. So no easy drop ins for it. I do believe that PDI has came out with a V-trigger for this rifle though.
