Hello everyone! I'm sure most of you have never heard of me. I'm relatively new to the forum, though I've been playing airsoft for 12 years or so.

Recently, I decided to purchase my first BASR, intending to use it to get used to upgrading guns before trying to eventually build either a HK417 or the wierd HK aeg sniper SL8 as a proper high powered DMR.

So, I'll be posting upgrades I do to the gun, both to get advice and simply because you guys are who I have to talk about this with!

So, to begin:

Gun: Amoeba Striker AS01 in olive green

Out of box FPS: 390 with .2s

Online agreement I've found is that most of the stock parts are actually decent, and don't need upgraded with the included spring.

My assessment after firing 600 shots at various ranges is that the rifle is accurate but inconsistent. At 40 yards, I can hit my target dead center 7 times, but have 3 other shots veer wildly. All in all, most of the parts seem good, but it needs work.

Planned upgrades:

1: first thing I plan to do is upgrade the stock hop up chamber. After opening it up, I found that the hop up arm wobbles. I think this may be the cause of inconsistent shots veering off to the sides.

Suggested fix: AEG shims around the arm. Should keep the arm from moving side to side between shots.

2: R Hoping. This one taken straight from the holy grail guide. I plan to take silicon tubing to make a patch, then wrap the patch in a few layers of Teflon tape instead of gluing it in. Seems to work just as well, and is easily replaced if the patch fails. Holy grail suggests filing the nub off the arm and replacing with eraser rubber. I'll likely do this too. Hopefully this will help with consistency as well, and help lift the .32s I plan to use with the stock spring.

Later upgrades:

Eventually I'd like to replace the barrel. The 350mm crazy jet gspec to mage the use of the small stock cylinder more efficient, and upgrade to an action army hop up unit.

90° trigger to prevent later breakage from use and give a better pull

Barrel spacers because duh

Maybe something with the cylinder, but all I can find is the Nemo kit and my wallet can't survive that. If I wanted to spend that much at once, I'd have bought the rifle of shame outlined in the holy grail. If anyone has any info on other options to upgrade cylinder volume, I'm all ears.

Thoughts and suggestions much appreciated! Seriously. This is the first gun I'm planning to do all the work on myself, so let me know!

Side question: I plan on using the stock barrel for awhile. What are the sites thoughts on lapping/polishing?

You can also try using sugru for the rhop.
I however prefer to use a maple leaf bucking. Unfortunately they don't work in bridged barrels like the stock striker one.
If you don't want a Nemo kit look into getting a mancraft sdik.
The only things that matter about your barrel is that it is straight and smooth. Thus there is little difference between a lapped zci and a pdi barrel. Lapping is good basically.
I personally prefer steel barrels like those lambda and lonex make- my go to for aegs is zci. For snipers I would use a lonex barrel but am currently using a TNT (don't get one- the Lonex is cheaper and better).

One way to improve FPS without using a different cylinder or spring is to use longer and tighter barrel such as a 6.01, 6.00, 5.98.
The issue with those barrels is that you have to keep them very clean and you should only use good BBs such as Novritsch or BLS.
Other than that, Mancraft is a decent option if you don't mind an air tank or C02 capsules.

For the AS01 specifically-
Tighter barrel=yes. The AS01 has a 6.03 stock, however, you can go tighter.
Longer barrel=no. Remember that the AS01 has a tiny cylinder volume so a longer barrel won't work and will probably make things worse- i.e. reverse joule creep.

In anything with a larger cylinder volume both of these are true.

Well, if the stock barrel is the optimum length, then figure out the internal volume and match that to the tighter barrel.
That will naturally give you a longer barrel.
IDK what the right stuff is for a STRIKER as I've never held one or been interested since I heard of the cylinder volume.
Mancraft is the way to go if you want decent power in that gun by the sound of things.

Fairly certain that the stock one is sub optimum (on the AS01) this is why the AS02 is better- right barrel length for the cylinder.
Mancraft or nemo kit is the way to go.

The as01 barrel is definitely too long for the cylinder.

I'd get a tighter one (6.01/6.00/5.98 if you're feeling brave), or switch to a shorter 300mm inner and outer, just like the as02

90° sear and piston are a good thing too (see the theme? Should've bought a 02), not strictly necessary for now, keep using the stock parts until they fail.

The most important upgrade is the cylinder, the stock brass one is abysmally bad, mine shit itself within 3 magazines and I'm running at 1J, can't imagine with a M150 inside.. Look for the newer gen steel one piece cylinders, the earlier ones had some QC issues (machining residues and burrs all over the place), forget about the Ares NEMO clone, that thing is just a waste of money.

Hop: keep the stock chamber but replace the arm with a gunsmithy one, use the rubber that you like the most, I personally use a Maple Leaf MR-Hop in mine, 50° because lol energy.
Action Army hop wheel is mandatory, in my gun the stock grub screw kept undoing itself with each shot.

Then it's just a matter of polishing stuff to make it cycle as smooth as possible.

You may also want to consider padding the cylinder head with some sorbo/silicone pad, just to dampen some of the sound. The strikers are really loud by default and there is not a whole lot of things to do about it.

I've held onto this little piece of info for a while..
The Action Army HUU isn't compatible with the spiral fluted barrels. The spiral fluted barrels are a thinner diameter on the inside and therefore the unit doesn't fit anymore, and also doesn't accept the barrel spacers either.

EDIT:: There's two waves of the Action Army HUU - Wave 1 is compatible with all AS01 barrels, Wave 2 is compatible with all outer barrels.

This is my next upgrade on top of a sugru rhop with a 70* maple leaf bucking and a 500fps spring I’ll let you know it goes
