Upgrading My Type 96

7742 Views 67 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  mosin
Okay, I am planning on upgrading my Type 96 to 500fps with great accuracy, and safely.

This is my gun now.

I want to know all of this will be okay for upgrading my Type 96 to 500fps with great accuracy without anything breaking internally. (preferably nothing over 550fps because the field does not allow anything above that limit)

Thanks!

I never really found the need for a silencer since, when I fire my gun it's the bolt I hear ejecting the bb, not the bb coming out of the barrel? Maybe it's because my gun was weak and never had enough power to even make a sound.
Another question, once I upgrade the gun to 500 somethin' fps, what would be the best gram weight of bb for the gun. .30?
That looks like a great way to start out your upgrade, not sure if you're going to need new barrel spacers. But along with what you have, I would invest in a longer tightbore barrel, maybe along the lines of 590mm. This is where you can utilize a silencer, along with covering the inner barrel, it will suppress the sound quite a bit.

If you're running around 500fps, .30s will probably be golden. Once you get around the 550 range, you'll want to use .33s and up.

The trigger assembly you have up there, looks to be for a APS-2 rifle, you'll want to find a Type96 trigger system.

The cylinder kit looks good aswell, I know Livonia runs with one, along with PDI parts that have been added over time. I think you will need an upgraded piston head, as the one that comes stock with the Maruzen will die very quickly. Along with a new hop up unit, a PDI will work great! Then on top of that, hard type hop up rubber.

All of this will make you golden.

Thanks, but the guy at Airsoft Atlanta said that the Zero Trigger would work, I'll make sure when I go back there.
Alright, look back up at the top post because I updated the list.

BIG QUESTION THAT I NEED SOMEONE TO ANSWER TO!!!!
Is DENtrinity.com reliable and when you buy something from there, for example, a silencer that costs $85 and a hop-up chamber for $61 and shipping is $60. So, would they add $60 to every item in the cart or would I just have my list, add up the money to pay, then they just add $60 for shipping?
It seems to me that DENtrinity might be much cheaper if I buy my upgrades their instead of Airsoft Atlanta.

Which silencer should I get from DEN?

Maruzen Vanishing Silencer For Maruzen APS Type 96 -$52
or
OK Silencer For Maruzen APS Type 96 -$85

What tightbore barrel should I get from DEN?

Should I get a PDI Hop Up Chamber For Maruzen APS Type 96 from DEN?-$61

What Zero Trigger should I get?

First PSS96 Zero Trigger from DEN-$130
or
TGS 2 Bearing Trigger System for For Maruzen APS Type 96 from DEN-$120

I am already choosing this
JP 500fps Cylinder Set For Maruzen APS Type 96 from DEN

Help please!

Good luck with the upgrades, I hope this will help.

Vanishing suppressor extends from the end of the barrel and is good for hiding an extra long inner barrel, whereas the OK silencer covers the entire barrel and can have hide slightly longer inner barrel but not as long as the Vanishing. Its really your choice, on how much your willing to pay and which one you think looks the best.

Defiantly get the PDI hop up, and probably a promethias (6.03mm) or a PDI (6.01mm) tight bore.
As for the trigger, if your only upgrading the gun to 500fps then you don't truly need a zero trigger. I would suggest a king arms light weight trigger unit from UN company, cause its cheaper

(scroll all the way down)

Oh and they're only charging $60 for the whole package. That would suck if it was for every item ...lol

although the price may increase slightly as the weight increases.
(1 item=$60 5 items=$73) Just an example

Thankyou very much thesoontobesniper, you have been a very good help!

What about a a new cylinder head made of stainless steel? Would I need one or would that JP 500fps Upgrade set come with one? What about the First PSS96 Silencer Attachment System. Would I need it for the Vanishing Silencer?

Also, that 6.01mm tightbore, it says that it doesn't fit the original barrel, what do I do because I have the original or is it just saying that because the barrel will be shorter than the inner barrel and can be corrected with the silencer?

Oh, yeah. Don't worry, I'm not going to be shooting anything over 550fps. I don't care to have anything with an incredible fps, just CAN'T have anything over 550fps.
what it means by "doesn't fit original chamber" is the stock hop up won't work anymore. As long as you get the PDI hop up the barrel will work. :) it will still be the correct length to fit in the barrel. I don't know about the silencer attachment. ??? i think you can use either of these

Laylax PSS96 S.A.S for Maruzen Type 96
or the
Guarder Silencer Attachment for Maruzen TYPE 96 ( 14mm- )

but i could be wrong so look into it more before ordering it over seas.
Okay thanks, but are you sure that I don't need a Zero Trigger for about 500fps because I don't want it to slowly break over time?
This is what I've got so far:

Don't waste the money on the Maruzen silencer, save some money and get a King Arms suppresor. They work flawlessly.

Also, just buy a Harris Bi Pod system, which will be significtly cheaper than the Maruzen as well.

Otherwise looking good.
You also need a bucking.

Forget about the supressor and bipod for now. Get the Hop-up, Tightbore, Bucking, and Cylinder set.

I know it would be cheaper, but I don't to drill a HOLE into my gun, something about that seems very crude. So, I'm just gonna be happy with the "made for" bipod. Anywhere I can get this King Arms silencer?
And Rabbit, enlighten me on the bucking subject, please.
Also, I don't want to have to buy a few accessories and then go back to buy more. That's another cost for shipping, which I really don't want to do.
Probably the only thing that I might want to hold off on would be a sun shade or scope extension of some sort.
The Maruzen ball-joint bipod BLOWS. I have one on my L96 and completely despise it. Harris bipods are by far nicer.
You can find King Arms silencers on RedWolf Airosft, or DenTrinity, probably any large Hong Kong website.
I havn't been able to find it on DENtrinity, which is the place where I am trying to buy all my upgrades. It most likely is there but could someone give me the page and how many items down the silencer I need is.

Dude, are you ****** serious! ****, I really don't want to drill a hole in my gun, I guess I'm gonna have to hold off on the bipod then.
You don't need to drill a hole, there is a mount on the bottom of the gun.
Drilling a whole into your rifle is NOT a big deal. The stock is plastic and can be easily epoxied. My bipod's swivel joint is probably held together better by my epoxy then the scews holding my assembly to the stock. You can easily fix it if anything goes wrong.

Okay, that is better. Rabbit, you are right, drilling a hole may not be a big deal, it's just that I don't really want to do that.
Livonia, is this the mount you are talking about?
The small, round-like piece abit above where you put the magazine.

Yeah that's it, the stud on the Bi-Pod will attach to that.
Hell YEAH!! Alright thanks, but where is this bipod; in other terms, which site can I buy it from because I can't find it on DENtrinity?

Alright, this is my next list.

-JP 500fps Cylinder Set- $130.00

-Don't know what silencer, people been sayin' a King Arms

-PDI 6.01 Inner Barrel- $113.00

- King Arms Leight Weight Trigger-$99.00 well, y'all say that I won't need a Zero Trigger because it's gonna be 500fps
