When you cock the bolt back, it should NOT spring back into place. That is what we call slam firing. Something us snipers have night mares about, and fear for our wallet's life.
UTG bolt not releasing?
So I disassemble my UTG L96 rifle in order to replace the spring. I reassembled the cylinder as it should be, but for some reason when I cock back the spring, something is preventing it from "springing" back into place, where I could pull the trigger. I truly cannot fathom what this would be, as the trigger box remains unbroken and unaltered from its original state. Any ideas?

Thats not quite what I meant. The bolt is getting stuck, just before it re-enters the... bolt housing? It has something to do with the two levers that stick out of the top of the trigger housing, they won't allow it to go back in after the spring is cocked and ready to fire.
Try re-seating the spring guide stopper. Make sure you push the bolt in ALL the way.
Toast is right, the UTG is prone to having the spring guide stopper sneak out the bottom. If this is the problem, just add some tape to the bottom of the hole where the spring guide stopper sticks out.
Assuming that the spring guide stopper is one of the nubs that sticks out of the top of the trigger housing (sorry, Im not entirely sure what each part is, despite my research) Im not sure thats it. Both of them bend down to allow the bolt to pass through, there seems to be no problem with their flexibility. The attached photo is a picture of the place the bolt gets stuck at.
Upon closer inspection, I have noticed that the screw pannels that attach the trigger housing to the cylinder housing have started to crack. Would this somehow effect the bolt?
The bit sticking out the bottom of the trigger unit (infront of the trigger), is the spring guide stopper.
Slide it down and see if the bolt goes fully home.
And no, I don't think the cracks are what's causing the bolt jam... Still not good though.

Had the same problem, but no this does not affect it. Ohh, in that case I have tried that. I removed the spring guide stopper, and the bolt still refuses to go back into place when only the trigger housing was screwed to the bottom.

Has your bolt handle been assembled properly?
The handle I pull on itself? I believe so, although if its not I suppose I wouldnt really know, would I? How would the bolt handle being improperly assembled affect its ability to be drawn back, but not slide forward?
I'm pretty sure you've got the s/g stopper in back to front (in the pic above). I know it won't fix your problem, but I thought I'd point it out anyway.
Ouch. thats embarassing.
tighten the back screw all the way down, if it is loose or has wabble it will not line up correctly
I believe I MAY have solved it! I wont post my thoughts until I know for sure though.
