Well hello again guys.
On my other thread, http://www.airsoftsniperforum.com/phpBB/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=1301, i was looking for an optic to use on my scout rifle.
Well I was looking on line and I found a scope that I thought I would like. So after some more searching I was able to find the main site and found a seller on Ebay. So I went there and ended up buying the scope.
It arrived today and this is what I have found so far....
The scope arrived in the plain box, wrapped in newspaper, and then in a UPS bag. Everything arrived very well and intact. The shipping was from California, so it did get here fairly quick.
Upon opening the box I was greeted with a "free target", the scope it self wrapped in some foam wrap, the Allen key for the rings, a set of heavy duty looking ring, a cleaning cloth, a set of lens covers, and some literature on the scope itself.
The scope is honestly a really nice build considering that I paid $85 for it, came to $104 after shipping. It is a 30mm unitube design. This means that the entire tube is made of one piece of metal. The zoom ring on it has a very firm bite to it when you try and turn it. The adjustments on the scope are very crisp and very nice. They are of a finger adjustment type, so no coins needed.
The rings were the next thing that I took out. They are a very robust and very heavy duty looking. They use a torque style bolts to clamp down the top part of the ring. They are the style of rings that can be used on a weaver style rail. To clamp them onto the rail there is a very hefty thumb nut that you tighten to clamp to the rail.
So of course the next thing that I had to do was mount the optic and look through it. The optic is a very clutter free and not to much to look at when looking through it. The stadia lines don't completely go from one side of the scope to the other. Instead it stops and there is a small dot in the center. This is your aiming point, and this is also the only part of the scope that will light up either red or green.
The glass on the scope seems to be very nice. I didn't notice any sort of blurring or any distortion of any kind. I put the scope in the freezer then took it outside, it is around 75 here right now. And there wasn't any kind of fogging or anything that I could see.
The zoom on the scope also appears to be very nice. I chose a lower powered scope so I can use it for quick shots, or if needed dial it up and use it for more precision. To be honest I really like this, and am thinking of putting it on my L96.
I was looking through the scope from my dining room, out my back window and down the block. And wow... the clarity of it is very nice. You are able to look past the stadia lines and use it like a spotting scope. Then just focus on the dot, for the aim point, and pull the trigger.
The zoom is from 1.25-4.5. So nothing to great when it comes to the magnification on the scope, but honestly how often do we go above 5x? I think the scope on the L96 has been set at 3x for the longest time and I get by with that no problem.
I had to do a size comparison so I used the scope that is on the L96. It is a center point 3-9 x 40mm. It is a very nice scope and has worked very well for the amount of punishment that I put it though. The over all length of the Vector scope is right at about 10 inches. Not to long but long enough to get the job done.
So now for some pics.....
