First Its quite interesting you want to do upgrades on already abysmally expensive gun. My friend has one and all he did was improve the AOE on the piston and put in a new MOSFET with all the bells and whistles. I think it might have been a Chimera.

For the magazines I would check if the spring is not damaged and possibly put in a Super Feed spring, Maple makes one and they are quite good brand.

Gear/Vest wise, you need to be more specific... What Nation, Surroundings you play in, price range? I personally am not a fan of vests/chest rigs I prefer a well planned out battle belt. Its more comfortable and you wont overheat as much.

The V2.2 gearbox that the G28 uses is notorious for cracking under heavier springs, so be very modest with the spring upgrades that you choose. HPA is the best option if possible. The retro arms gearbox is also a possible solution, but there have been numerous reports of issues with the RA gearbox not matching specs very well. Magazines, you'll have to replace the magazine springs as dezert suggested. In my experience, they wouldn't reliably feed anything above a 0.32g, and even then, the BB's would barely drag out of the track.

If you intend on running midcaps with the G28, then definitely build/buy yourself some sort of chest rig. The 7.62 size magazines for the 417 style rifles are enormous and would murder most of your space if you mounted them on a belt.

Depends on how much you shoot. I had 3 midcaps and 1 hicap and never ran out of ammo. Keep in mind after upgrading the springs in the midcaps, they only held around 60 rounds. I run a hicapa as a secondary, running one magazine in the gun and two spares. I cannot say how many magazines you should carry as only you know how you play and only you know how much ammo you will burn over a set period of time.

I would argue that for a pistol you don't need more than 2 mags (50bbs), unless you're playing CQB. Over 3 years that I have played as a part of a recon team I have only once used up the 2 mags but thats because we were getting chased by a platoon sized element :D Also if you want to know, I run with an ASG CZ P-09.

As for a rifle it really depends, I know people who are very proactive but over a space of 6 hour skirmish don't use more than 2 Midcaps (300bbs) while others go through 8 (1200bbs).

I would recommend you get 2 Midcaps and a Highcap. That way you can quickly reload if you're empty but it will give you an idea if you need more without breaking the bank.
